Convention on Biological Diversity — Bio-Bridge Initiative

The Bio-Bridge Initiative (BBI) provides seed funding of up to C$20 thousand to incubate projects and partnerships that promote exemplary approaches to address biodiversity-related issues and challenges. Governmental agencies, research and academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, Indigenous Peoples and local communities in developing countries are eligible to apply. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in El Salvador

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in El Salvador. The priorities under this call include environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. Project funding is C$30 thousand to C$40 thousand. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. The deadline for submission is 31 January 2024. CFLI El Salvador

Earth Journalism Network — Story Grants for Indigenous Environmental Journalists

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to Indigenous journalists to support the production of in-depth environmental stories that call attention to climate justice, biodiversity, sustainable ecosystems, and other issues related to the rights and well-being of Indigenous peoples and communities. ENJ expects to award between 8-9 grants with an average budget of US$1,400 each. Applicants must self-identify as Indigenous or belonging to a tribe. Applicants can be from any country in the world. Marine Mammal Commission — Grants to Protect Marine Mammals 2024

The Marine Mammal Commission invites worldwide proposals on community-driven conservation approaches to eliminate, manage, or mitigate threats to marine mammals. The Commission supports projects on any subject in support of marine mammal conservation, protection, research, and management. All projects must include an outreach, communication, or engagement component that furthers marine mammal conservation or management efforts. Funding requests are limited to US$60 thousand. PEMSEA — East Asian Seas Congress Youth Forum

The East Asian Seas Congress Youth Forum (April 2024) aims to bring together young leaders across the East Asian Seas region to have a deeper understanding of the marine environment, and impacts of climate change. Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply: Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Timor-Leste, Vietnam. Applicants must be 21 to 35 years old and have, at least, one year exposure or experience in marine science, marine conservation, or any related fields. All travel and forum expenses will be covered by PEMSEA and the Korea National Ocean Science Museum. East Asian Seas Congress

National Geographic Society — Exploration Grant

The National Geographic Society funds individuals working on projects in science, conservation, storytelling, education, and technology that align with one or more of their focus areas: Ocean, Land, Wildlife, Human History & Culture, Human Ingenuity. Level I grants receive funding up to US$20 thousand and offer unique opportunities for training, networking, coaching, and mentorship from fellow National Geographic experts. Level II grants are up to US$100 thousand. Currently, National Geographic Society seeks innovative photography, short film, writing, data visualization and other storytelling proposals to help water users understand the issues around global water sustainability. Ford Motor Company — Ford Fund Fellowship

The Ford Fund Fellowship is a virtual program for social entrepreneurs and community leaders building ventures that create impactful and scalable innovations. Each Fellow will learn advanced skills in entrepreneurship and leadership. US$25 thousand in seed funding will be distributed among the 25 Ford Fund Fellows. Applicants from the following countries are welcome to apply: China, Germany, Mexico, Romania, South Africa, United Kingdom. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. Restore4Life — Wetland Restoration in Europe

Restore4Life provides scientific and technical support for the implementation of wetland restoration solutions in Europe. Each associated region can apply for up to €100 thousand in project support. Eligibility extends to local and/or regional authorities from EU Member States and associated countries to the Horizon Europe Program. Applications can be submitted from 01 February to 29 May 2024. Global Nature Fund — Living Lakes Network

Living Lakes is a global network of partnership organizations to protect lakes, wetlands, and other freshwater sources and their catchment areas. The network takes an ecosystem approach to include biodiversity conservation and support for local livelihoods, e.g., in agriculture, fisheries, tourism, etc. Living Lakes does not make project grants, but it offers network assistance to members. Members are able to include their projects and proposals in the Living Lakes portfolio for the attention of potential donors and sponsors. Members may also apply for assistance to participate in the meetings, workshops, and conferences of Living Lakes — and to seek other forms of networking and training support. Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association — Coastal Ecosystems Resilience

The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) launches a regional call for proposals to support demonstrative field actions aimed at fostering the restoration, the management and the sustainable use of marine and coastal ecosystems. The project must have a minimal duration of 12 months. Grants range from €50 thousand to €150 thousand. Applicants must be based in Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, or Seychelles.
