The Georg Forster Research Award supports the work of accomplished researchers who are expected to continue to develop research-based solutions to specific challenges facing transition and developing countries. Nominees must be nationals of a developing or transition country, excluding the People’s Republic of China and India. The award amount is €60 thousand. Additionally, award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing in Germany in close collaboration with a specialist colleague. To support the collaboration, the Foundation may grant additional funding of up to €25 thousand. U.S. Department of State — TechCamp for Climate Action
The United States Department of State announces the 2022 Young Pacific Leaders TechCamp for Climate Action. The TechCamp will bring young leaders from across the Pacific together with regional and U.S. leaders in the field of climate science and science communication to identify innovative approaches to climate resiliency and mitigation. West African Research Association — Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowships
The West African Research Association (WARA), in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, announces support for young West African scholars through its Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowship program. The Fellowship program will award three doctoral research grants of US$4 thousand each. Priority will be given to research projects focusing on women, technology, entrepreneurship, and a wide range of other fields. SEED — Starter Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Kenya
SEED offers valuable resources and professional support to expand entrepreneurial ideas while learning from peers during interactive SEED Starter workshops. SEED Starter workshops consist of a team of 2-5 members that bring in a business idea for addressing environmental, social and economic challenges. Successful alumni are invited to apply for a SEED Grant for up to €1,000 which pays for resources required to establish the new enterprise. Small Initiatives Program — Nature Conservation in Africa
The Small Initiatives Program (PPI) launches a call for project proposals for emerging African Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working around major issues of nature conservation and/or the fight against climate change. The eligible themes are the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change through nature-based solutions. The maximum contribution is €35 thousand. Government of India — ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship
The ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) aims to promote cooperation in science, technology and innovation through joint research activities in environmental management, climate change adaptation, agricultural technologies, alternative energy, biodiversity, biotechnology, and others. The Fellowship provides ASEAN young researchers with the opportunity to work at an Indian research/academic institution. The duration of the Fellowship will be for a period of 2-6 months. Fellows receive full financial assistance, including international travel, accommodation, meals, and a one-time grant of up to INR 40 thousand for research expenses. The Climate Action Champions Network seeks young climate leaders from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan. The objective of the program is to inspire the South Asian young leaders to champion an ambitious climate action agenda in their respective countries and in the wider Indo-Pacific region. Climate Investment Funds — Nature-based Solutions
The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) finances Nature-based solutions that recognize the interdependence between land use, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and improve the sources of livelihoods of rural communities and Indigenous Peoples. CIF launches the selection process for identifying countries that will receive funding under the Nature, People and Climate Investment program. The Program will allow potential allocation per investment plan of up to approximately US$50 million. Countries that are eligible for Official Development Assistance can apply. European Commission — Promoting Green Growth in Nepal
The European Commission (EC) seeks to support civil society organizations’ ability to engage as actors promoting green growth and good governance. EC will fund projects that promote a just transition to a climate-neutral, resource-efficient and circular economy, and prevent biodiversity loss through the protection, restoration and promotion of sustainable use of ecosystems. Applicants can request up to €1.4 million in funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations legally established in Nepal or Member States of the European Union. Embassy of France in New Zealand — Pacific Fund 2022
The Embassy of France in New Zealand seeks projects that contribute to economic, social, cultural and scientific cooperation with New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Wallis and Futuna. Projects must fall under at least one of the following categories: fight against climate change and risk management for natural disasters; economic and industrial projects (feasibility study, training actions, etc.); food security (e.g., fishery management, etc.). Projects must be jointly financed for at least 50% of the total project budget. Projects have to be submitted by a New Zealand partner and must involve at least one local project partner.
