African Centre for Technology Studies — Innovation Challenge

The AI4D Innovation Scaling Challenge offers up to US$100 thousand in seed funding to scale AI solutions already deployed in real-world settings across Sub-Saharan Africa. The initiative supports innovations addressing climate action, agriculture, education, gender/disability inclusion, and inequality, and provides not only funding but also mentorship. Eligible applicants include individual researchers, startups, universities, and consortia based in countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, South Africa, Ethiopia, Ghana, and others in the region. JPI Climate — Climate Services for Risk Reduction in West Africa

The Climate Services for Risk Reduction in West Africa (CS4RRA) aims to support interdisciplinary projects that enhance climate resilience across 16 West African countries. With funding of up to €2 million per project for durations of up to 36 months, the call targets initiatives that improve early warning systems, assess climate security risks, and integrate climate services into policy and financing mechanisms. Eligible consortia must include at least two institutions from different West African countries and one European partner, with the coordinator based in West Africa. Elsevier Foundation — Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge

The Elsevier Foundation Green and Sustainable Chemistry Challenge is open to individuals and organizations whose projects use green and sustainable chemistry solutions to tackle climate change challenges. The Challenge aims to recognize the pivotal role women play in combating climate change, therefore, projects must take into consideration gender components. The winning projects will receive a prize of €25 thousand each. The Challenge is open to individuals and non-profit organizations. The deadline for submissions is 01 October 2025. Columbia Climate School — Postdoctoral Research Program

The Columbia Climate School invites applications for the Postdoctoral Research Program. Climate School Postdocs will receive an annual salary of US$71,640. They are also awarded a research stipend of US$12 thousand over the two-year term for reimbursable expenses related to the appointment. The program is open to U.S. and non-U.S. citizens. London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine — Planetary Health Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Planetary Health Postdoctoral Fellowship is aimed at early-career researchers focused on the intersection of human health and environmental change. The fellowship supports solutions-oriented research addressing critical issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and sustainable food systems. The fellowship is fully funded for two years, with a competitive salary and research support. The fellowship is open globally to researchers within three years of completing their PhD, with experience in planetary health-related disciplines (e.g., epidemiology, environmental science, health policy). Earth Journalism Network — Virtual Reporting Fellowships

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) hosts a virtual media workshop for business and finance journalists in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Thailand seeking to strengthen their climate-focused reporting on environmental accountability, financial and industry solutions and informing public demand for change in Asia’s business sector. Participants who attend the workshop will also be eligible to apply for a story grant to produce journalistic work. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other media practitioners with experience covering business, finance and/or the economy. Irish Aid — Ireland Fellows Programme 2026/27

Irish Aid offers scholarships to qualified candidates from Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America to undertake Master’s degrees at universities and colleges in Ireland. Awards are made in the fields of development studies, rural development, biodiversity conservation, and many other subject areas relevant to the Terra Viva Grants Directory. Climate Tracker — Climate Journalism Mentorship Program

The Climate Journalism Mentorship Program supports emerging journalists in Latin America to report on the energy transition and climate issues. Participants will receive editorial mentorship, training, and financial support to produce three in-depth stories. Journalists, journalism students, and communicators residing in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, or the Dominican Republic are eligible to apply. Lipman Family Prize — Funding for Social Change

Each year, the Lipman Family Prize awards cash to three social impact organizations – US$250 thousand for the winning organization and US$125 thousand for each of the two other honorees. The award recognizes and amplifies the work of organizations devoted to positive social impact and creating sustainable solutions to significant social and economic challenges. Past winners include projects in the field of improved sanitation, energy innovations, and micro-forestry. Dawn Project — Climate Change Ambassadors

The Dawn Project Competition 2025, themed “Generation Restoration: Shaping Our Future!”, invites individuals of all ages to creatively express their vision for environmental restoration and sustainability. The competition accepts a variety of artistic submissions, including essays, poetry, visual art, graphic design, music, and other innovative formats.
