The Efficiency for Access Coalition (EforA) seeks applications for the Efficiency for Access Research and Development Fund. The Coalition seeks projects that develop enabling technologies or products for off-grid and weak grid areas. Start-ups and micro-sized organizations can apply for grants of between £50 thousand and £300 thousand to be used for feasibility studies, industrial research, or experimental development. The applicant must be a legally registered business, academic organisation, non-profit, or research and technology organization. There are no geographical restrictions. U.S. Agency for International Development — Energy Resilience in Jamaica
The US Agency for International Development (USAID) supports actions and activities that will strengthen the ability of Jamaica’s energy sector. USAID requests solutions that advance the development of a resilient alternative energy market. Concept notes should propose activities valued at no less than US$2 million. Water and Energy for Food — Asia Agriculture & Energy Prize
The Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) Prize seeks business owners and entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia with innovations in renewable energy and agriculture. The Prize includes a US$355 thousand cash prize for winners and runners-up, and sponsorship to participate in the Clean Asia Energy Forum in the Philippines (June 2020). The Prize is open to mid-stage businesses and youth innovators. To be eligible for the mid-stage prize, enterprises must have existing services or products. #VALUE4HERConnect is Africa’s first agribusiness intelligence platform aimed at facilitating growth and development of women-owned agribusiness enterprises. The platform calls for registrations of women agri-businesses who wish to do business and trade in African and global agricultural markets. The aim is to create a network of women in agribusiness, increase information flow within women agribusiness networks and with their markets, supply chains and other service providers, including investment and financing partners. The Wellcome Trust enables researchers to run international exchange programs specializing in health-related humanities, social sciences or bioethics. An International Exchange Program is up to £1.5 million and can last for three to five years. The Trust covers the costs of carrying out the program. The proposed program must have one program leader based at an eligible UK organisation and one co-applicant based at an eligible organisation anywhere in the world outside the UK. The Wellcome Trust funds groups of researchers who want to shape the direction of their research in health-related humanities, social sciences or bioethics. The JK VISIONARIES award recognizes organizations that are working to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. The award seeks sustainable solutions that solve people’s problems with new tools, methods, or techniques (possibly within one or more thematic areas of the Terra Viva Grant Directory) with the potential to be replicated in other countries. Loughborough University — Modern Energy Cooking Services Research Projects
The MECS Challenge Fund provides early-stage research funding to stimulate innovations in modern energy cooking technology in low-income countries. Community-Scale pilot studies can request up to £60 thousand, but preference will be given to projects with matched funding. Market assessments for efficient electric cooking appliances may be supported with up to £20 thousand in match funding. MedPAN launches a new call for small projects to support Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Mediterranean. This call targets co-management approaches for Marine Protected Areas. The call is only open to Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Turkey, and Albania. MedPAN’s contribution will be €20 thousand per project (matching contributions of 25 % are required).
