U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Academic Fellowship

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders in the ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Academic Fellowship offer support to participate in a five-week institute on the campus of a U.S. university or college in one of the following topics: civil engagement; environmental issues; or social entrepreneurship and economic development. The fellowships include leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with peers in the USA. Applications are invited from current full-time undergraduate students citizen of Vietnam aged between 18 and 25 years. Application deadline is 02 June 2019. Link

Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation — Scholarships 2019-2020

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2019-2020 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. Applicants must provide a certificate of their proficiency in Italian language (not required for courses entirely taught in English). Applications must be submitted by 30 May 2019. U.S. Department of State — Economic Development in the Middle East

The MEPI Local Grants Program seeks proposals that support inclusive economic growth in the Western Sahara by improving local economic opportunities. Proposals should develop and implementing locally-designed solutions to environmental, economic, or social problems or promote inclusive economic growth that reaches marginalized communities. (Note: This may include one or more categories of the Terra Viva Grant Directory.) Budgets should fall between US$50 thousand and US$500 thousand. Eligibility extends to US and foreign organizations and universities based in based in Algeria, Bahrain, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Qatar, Tunisia, or Yemen. Takeda Foundation — Young Entrepreneurship Award 2019

The Takeda Foundation accepts applications for the Takeda Young Entrepreneurship Award. The Award is for young entrepreneurs trying to address real technological and social needs by creating goods and services that enhance the well-being of communities around the world. Past winners include projects in the field of water management, disaster-relief and biotechnology, among others. The winner of the Best Entrepreneur Award will receive 1 million Japanese yen. Unleash — Innovation Lab 2019

Unleash invites young experts from all around the world to participate in the 2019 Innovation Lab in Shenzhen (Nov 2019) to create real, scalable solutions towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Teams will explore real-life challenges within the SDG themes, before defining specific problems and coming up with solutions. The top teams will present their solutions to investors and experts. Applications are open to academics, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and technical experts from for profit and non-profit organizations. Khalifa University of Science and Technology — Graduate Scholarships 2019

Khalifa University of Science and Technology offers Graduate Research/ Teaching Assistant (GRTA) scholarships to support students enrolled in one of the graduate programs. The University offers a wide range of programs in different subject areas including water and environmental engineering, science and technology degrees. International students are particularly encouraged to apply. The scholarship includes the full coverage of tuition fees, medical insurance, support for conference attendance and a monthly stipend. UNIDO ITPO Italy — Innovative Ideas and Technologies in Agribusiness

UNIDO ITPO Italy invites applications for the international contest “Innovative Ideas and Technologies in Agribusiness”. Innovative ideas and technologies relative to the entire agribusiness value chain – developed by startups, businesses, research centers and academia – that could be successfully applied in Developing Countries (DCs) are eligible. Applications from enterprises, startups, universities, research centres, NGOs, researchers, and smallholders farmers are welcome. Winners in 7 categories will be invited to the Award Ceremony at EXCO 2019 (May 2019), receive mentorship, and have access to possible business partnerships. Society for International Development — Andrew E. Rice Award 2019

The Andrew E. Rice Award for Leadership and Innovation recognizes the achievements of an exceptional young professional working in the field of international development. Past winners include field research on agriculture strategies and the creation of low-cost digital games that inspire social change. Candidates must be between 22 to 32 years old and have at least two years of experience in international development in developing countries. The winner will receive US$1,000. Government of India — India-Egypt Bilateral Cooperation

The Government of India invites research projects to apply to the Call for Joint Proposals, with the aim of encouraging scientific and technological co-operation between Egypt and India. Priority research areas include biotechnology, energy applications, among others. Financial support for international air fares, accommodation and Rs2,500 per diem for expenses, and also minor support for research related expenses like contingency and consumables can be provided. European Commission — Microorganism Communities for Plastics Bio-Degradation

The European Commission seeks project proposals that develop environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions for managing the waste of plastics mixtures based on the use of communities of microorganisms. The aim of this call is to develop of new biotechnologies for the global challenge of environmental protection and improve the quality and quantity of products in a wide variety of sectors (wellbeing, environment, food, etc.). Proposals may requests a contribution of up to €5 million. International cooperations and legal entities established in EU Member States, Overseas Countries and Territories and Horizon 2020 associated countries (as detailed in the call) are eligible to apply under this call.
