Bayer Foundations — International Fellowship Program

The Bayer International Fellowship Program consists of five scholarship programs that offer financial support to foreign students and young professionals pursuing a project in Germany. (Note: German students and young professionals can apply to realize a study or research project abroad.) Students in the field of veterinary medicine can apply for the Carl Duisberg Scholarship. Students in the fields of agro sciences, green biotechnology, environmental sciences and sustainability can apply for the Jeff Schell Scholarship. Students in life sciences, including biology, and bio-engineering, among others, can apply for the Otto Bayer Scholarship. The next round of applications must be submitted until 14 July 2019. Sense about Science — John Maddox Prize for Science Communication

The John Maddox Prize recognizes the work of individuals who promote science and evidence, advancing the public discussion around difficult topics. The winner receives £3 thousand. An additional prize is awarded to one early-career scientist. Candidates must be nominated (no self-nomination) and can be from any country and in any field of science. Heliconia Society International — Small Grants for Student Research

The Heliconia Society International makes small grants supporting research on any aspects of the botany and horticulture of the Zingiberales conducted by graduate and post-doctoral students enrolled at recognized universities and research institutions. Annual grants are US$1,000. Awardees will also receive one year’s free membership to the HSI, and a summary of their research proposal will be published in the HSI Bulletin. Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Fellowship for Women in STEMM

The IUSSTF invites Indian women to apply for the Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women in STEMM (WISTEMM)” (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) program at reputed scientific/technological institutions in the USA. Project research areas include agricultural sciences, among many others. The program includes health insurance, airfare, and a monthly stipend of US$2,500. Eligibility extends to Indian women currently pursuing Ph.D. degree in Basic Sciences, Engineering or Technology on a full-time basis at any recognized academic institution/R&D institute/university in India. MacArthur Foundation — $100 Million to Solve a Critical Problem

The MacArthur Foundation seeks applications for the 100&Change competition. The winner will receive US$100 million to develop and implement a project that addresses a critical problem affecting people, places, or the planet. The competition is open to organizations working in any field of endeavor anywhere in the world. Applicants must identify the problem they are trying to solve, as well as their proposed solution. Nonprofit and for-profit organizations can apply. The competition will not accept applications from individuals or government agencies. Participants in the competition must register by 16 July 2019. U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Academic Fellowship

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders in the ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Academic Fellowship offer support to participate in a five-week institute on the campus of a U.S. university or college in one of the following topics: civil engagement; environmental issues; or social entrepreneurship and economic development. The fellowships include leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with peers in the USA. Applications are invited from current full-time undergraduate students citizen of Vietnam aged between 18 and 25 years. Application deadline is 02 June 2019. Link

RMTI University — Scholarships 2019

The RMTI University offers scholarships for international students undertaking a degree at the University’s College of Science, Engineering and Health. Courses in the Science department include environmental science, food science, biological sciences, among others. Eligible candidates must be citizens of Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore that achieve a minimum of  70% average in their highest level of education award. The scholarship total value is AU$10 thousand. The deadline for applications is 14 June 2019 (Semester 2 2019), and 15 January 2020 (Semester 1 2020). Find out more

Society of Chemical Industry — Travel Bursaries

The Society of Chemical Industry awards travel bursaries to young PhD students. There are various schemes available, some related to agriculture and life sciences.  Applicants will have preference if they wish to travel outside their country of residence, especially if they wish to work in a laboratory abroad. Next deadline cycle for the AJ Banks Award (Food science), and the Messel Award (Chemical science including all life sciences) is 31 October 2019. Link

Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women

The IUSSTF invites Indian Women Scientists, Engineers & Technologists to apply for the “Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women in STEMM” (2nd Batch) to undertake international collaborative research in the USA. Proposed thematic areas of work include agricultural sciences, life sciences and seven others. Eligibility extends to Indian women (aged 21-35 years) currently pursuing Ph.D. degree. Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation — Scholarships 2019-2020

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2019-2020 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. Applicants must provide a certificate of their proficiency in Italian language (not required for courses entirely taught in English). Applications must be submitted by 30 May 2019.
