European Commission — TROPIMUNDO Masters Program in Tropical Biodiversity and Ecosystems 2025-2026

TROPIMUNDO is a 2-year Erasmus Mundus masters program in tropical biodiversity and ecosystems. Students alternate their semesters between consortium universities in Europe (Belgium, France, Italy) and tropical regions outside Europe (Australia, Cameroon, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Malaysia). Applicants should have an internationally accepted bachelor’s degree in biology, natural sciences, environmental sciences, or equivalent. The EC provides a certain number of scholarships for EU and non-EU students. The deadline for applications (for scholarship seekers or self-funded applicants) is 30 November 2023. About TROPIMUNDO

University of Oxford — Postgraduate Scholarships 2024/2025

The Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme aims to support outstanding postgraduate students from developing and emerging economies for post-graduate studies at the University of Oxford, UK. Relevant areas of study include: Biodiversity Conservation Management, Earth sciences, Environment, International Wildlife Conservation Practice, Water Science, Zoology, and many others. The scholarship will cover 100% of course fees and a grant for living costs (of at least £15 thousand). The closing date for scholarship applications is 19 January 2024, for most courses. Link

iF International Forum Design GmbH — Student Design Award

The iF Student Design Award recognizes students and their future-oriented concepts that aim to solve a global development challenge. The best concepts earn a share of €50 thousand. All winners will be honored with a two-day event in Istanbul. Students and recent graduates of all design-related courses and programs are welcome to register their concepts. InfoNile — University Science Communication Competition for Africa

InfoNile has organized a science communication competition that aims to engage university students in Africa to understand the critical role of conserving swamps and their biodiversity. The competition aims to foster environmental awareness and empower young scientists and conservationists in Africa to take action for swamps. Eligibility extends to teams of 2-3 university students, one from communication or journalism and a science student. Teams can choose any scientific research article about swamps in their country and use it as a case study. Applications have to be submitted by 11 September 2023. Details

Global Diversity Foundation — Conservation and Communities Fellowship

Global Diversity Foundation offers an online and in-person Fellowship for leaders of Global South grassroots organizations working at the intersection of biodiversity and livelihoods. The program will help participants to fundraise for their projects, successfully implement and measure their impact, and grow a supportive peer-learning and mentoring community. The Fellowship is open to applicants from the Global South who are leaders or project managers in local civil society or grassroots organizations whose work focuses on the intersection of biodiversity conservation and community livelihoods. Mesoamerican Reef Fund — Small Grants

The Mesoamerican Reef Fund (MAR Fund) announces its annual request for proposals with two available financial windows: Traditional Small Grants and Reef Rescue Initiative. Traditional Small Grants support Coastal and Marine resources management and protection in the Mesoamerican Reef (MAR). Reef Rescue Initiative supports and strengthens science-based restoration, repopulation, and rehabilitation of coral reefs in the MAR region. The proposals to be presented may have a duration of up to two years. Funding ranges from US$30 thousand to US$50 thousand. At least 25% of the total budget must come from other sources, as a match to the requested funds. All coral reefs within the MAR region are eligible. Smithsonian Institution — Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biodiversity Genomics

The Smithsonian Institution seeks collaborative research proposals in Biodiversity Genomics, involving comparative genomic approaches such as phylogenomics, population genomics, metagenomics or transcriptomics, and bioinformatics analysis. The stipend for postdoctoral and senior fellows is US$55 thousand per year. Applicants must propose to conduct research in-residence for a period of 12 to 24 months. Applicants contact Smithsonian’s staff members (find link in the announcement) to identify potential advisors, and to determine the feasibility of their proposed research. Yale University — Young Global Scholars Program

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) offers two-week academic summer programs for high school students from all around the world. The program offers four interdisciplinary sessions on campus at Yale (USA), including sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. YYGS offers the opportunity for students to apply for need-based financial aid. Furthermore, YYGS will waive the application fee if it constitutes a significant financial burden for the student’s family. The application deadline is 04 January 2024. Oklahoma City Zoo & Botanical Garden — Conservation Grants 2023

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden (USA) manages the “Conservation Action Now” program. The program awards small grants for conservation education, scientific research, and species preservation anywhere in the world. Grants are up to US$2,500. Cambridge University — Masters in Conservation Leadership

The Cambridge Masters in Conservation Leadership invites applications for entry in 2024. The full-time masters program during one year is aimed at graduates of leadership potential with at least three to five years of experience relevant to biodiversity conservation.
