European Commission — Horizon Prize for Clean Engines

The European Commission invites applications to the ‘Horizon Prize for the Cleanest Engine of the Future’. The prize not only aims at improving air quality, but also at contributing to the greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets agreed at COP21, as well as to increase energy efficiency. The contest is open to all legal entities (i.e. natural or legal persons) or groups of legal entities. The total prize amount is €3.5 million. Innovate Green Competition — Addressing Environmental Challenges in the MENA region

The Innovate Green Competition (IGC) is a cooperative initiative that aims to stimulate entrepreneurship within university students in the MENA region. Individuals or groups of up to 3 university students with innovative solutions addressing environmental challenges are invited to apply to the competition. One member from each of the top three finalists will be invited to the 4th UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-4) in Nairobi (March 2019). The winners receive cash prizes of up to US$10 thousand. Franklin Institute — Bower Award for Science Achievement 2020

The Bower Award is made to individuals who have made significant contributions to understanding and quantifying perturbations of natural systems within the biosphere, atmosphere, or hydrosphere in the age of the Anthropocene. The award is a 14k gold medal and a cash prize of US$250 thousand. The competition is open internationally. Self-nominations are accepted. Department of Science & Technology — Global Cooling Prize

Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India and Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), USA invite applications to the Global Cooling Prize. This prize will recognize innovations that help to tackle critical climate threats proveniente from growing demand for residential air-conditioning. Applications are open for innovators from all around the world. The competition will run for two years and will disburse at least US$3 million in interim and final awards to best innovative residential cooling technologies. Graduate Institute Geneva — Geneva Challenge on Climate Change

The Graduate Institute Geneva invites graduate students from all around the world to register teams for the Geneva Climate Change Contest. Contributions should be theoretically grounded and offer pragmatic solutions to a relevant international development problems. The winning project will receive CHF10 thousand. This year, five prizes will be distributed; one in each of the following categories: Universities located in Africa; Universities located in Asia; Universities located in Europe; Universities located in North America and Oceania; and Universities located in South America. International Conference on Diseases of Zoo and Wild Animals — Rudolf Ippen Young Scientist Award 2019

The Award honors a young scientist who published a promising scientific paper in the thematic areas of wildlife veterinary science, conservation medicine, or zoo animal medicine. The “Rudolf Ippen Young Scientist Award” will be awarded at the Zoo and Wildlife Health Conference 2019 in Kolmården (Sweden) in June 2019. The award is endowed with €1 thousand. Nigeria Energy Forum — Africa Energy Innovation Competition 2019

The NEF invites applications for the 4th Africa Energy Ideas Competition that is set to accelerate the development of early-stage energy firms across Africa. The competition is open to early-stage energy entrepreneurs from Africa to collaborate with local research institutions or industries. Young professionals between the ages of 18 and 35 years from Africa are invited to participate and nominate a relevant local research institution or organization. Inter-Research Science Center — Ecology Prize 2019

The International Ecology Institute in Germany annually selects top performers worldwide in the field of ecology for the Ecology Institute Prize and the IRPE Prize. The winner of the Ecology Institute Prize will be awarded €6 thousand; the winner of the IRPE Prize will receive €3 thousand.
