The winner of this challenge will be selected at a final pitch event and receive a full scholarship to attend SU’s Global Startup Program (GSP). The European Young Researchers’ Award (EYRA) aims to inspire early stage researchers in all research areas to incorporate a European dimension and perspective into their research. The 2020 call is open to early-career PhD and post-doctoral researchers from any nationality, who work in a European country. The award consists of a certificate, free participation (including travel) at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), and one year free EuroScience membership. Climate Chance — Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019
Climate Chance opens the call for proposals for the Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019. The call is open to local authorities, businesses, NGOs, trade unions, scientists, representatives from agricultural, youth, women and indigenous organisations, educators and citizens. Initiatives corresponding to many themes will be considered: Access to climate finance in Africa; Developing African cities in a sustainable way; Agriculture, food and reforestation in Africa; Renewable energy and energy efficiency in Africa; Adaptation and Water in Africa; Education and Training on Climate Change in Africa; and others. Unilever — Young Entrepreneurs Awards 2019
The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards invite nominations of individuals ages 18 to 35 anywhere in the world who have initiatives, products, or services that address sustainability challenges in three categories. The categories are ‘improve people’s health and well-being’; ‘improve the health of the planet’; and ‘contribute to a fairer and more socially inclusive world’. Unilever will recognise up to eight winners in 2019, each of whom will be awarded a cash prize in addition to one-to-one mentoring support for a year. The overall winner will receive the “HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize” of €50 thousand, the remaining winners will each receive a €8.5 thousand cash award. Samsung Engineering jointly with UN Environment launches the 12th Eco-generation Environmental Essay Competition inviting the youth all over the world to raise awareness on the theme “Beat Air Pollution”. The competition aims to collect inspiring and creative ideas on why we should reduce air pollution with regards to its causes, effects, and consequences. University College London — Research Grant Awards
UCL supports interdisciplinary research on themes relating to one or more of the Nahrein Network’s five aims through the Research Grant Awards program. Overarching aims of the program are related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (water and land). Two types of funding are offered: small grants (up to £30 thousand) for projects led by Iraqi researchers, or collaborations between Iraqi and UK researchers; and large grants (up to £100 thousand) for collaborations between Iraqi, Lebanese or Turkish and UK researchers. The 2019 ASEAN-U.S. Science Prize for Women seeks to identify and recognize ASEAN-based, early to mid-career women who are using applied sciences in the theme of the “Circular Economy”. The top two finalists will be invited to compete in a pitch competition during an ASEAN Ministerial event in Singapore in October 2019. The overall winner will receive $20 thousand.
