A2A seeks concept papers to explore CCUS technologies and the potential markets for CO2 products. This challenge is designed specifically for methods that offer solutions to capture and reuse CO2. VivaTech seeks unique startups with innovative products, solutions and technologies that demonstrate a concrete and positive innovation for the planet. Solutions must address energy challenges, smart farming, biodiversity & conservation, clean air, or green digital solutions. Selected startups get a chance to be featured in digital showrooms. WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award — Award in Sustainable Aquaculture

WIN WIN Gothenburg Sustainability Award invites nominations to recognize aquaculture initiatives from around the world that could contribute to increase efficiency and sustainability. The nominees will have created change that inspires others and shown what measures are necessary. Any organization, movement, business, group of people or individual can be nominated. Enel Green Power — AI for Protected Vegetation Recognition

Enel Green Power (EGP) seeks to improve the environmental sustainability and biodiversity preservation of its renewable installations. In particular, EGP is looking for artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to be applied during the construction phase of renewable power plants to detect selected tree or other vegetation species that may be of particular importance for the local biodiversity equilibrium. The best innovation will receive an award of US$20 thousand. Submissions must be received by 14 February 2022. Link to the challenge

Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community — Media Awards

The Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) announces the 2022 SADC Media Awards competition in the four categories: Photo, Print, Television and Radio Journalism. The themes of the entries to be submitted for the competition must be on issues and activities promoting Regional Integration in the SADC region, i.e. development, water, culture, agriculture, etc. The first prize winner in each category receives US$2,500 and the runner-up receives US$1000. The Media Awards are open to journalists from the SADC Member States. Completed forms must be submitted by 28 February 2022. SADC Media Awards

Children’s Climate Foundation — Children’s Climate Prize

The Children’s Climate Prize invites innovative and groundbreaking ideas and solutions on the issue of climate change. The prize is awarded to children aged 12-17 who have made extraordinary efforts for the climate and environment. The winners will be invited to Sweden and receive prize money of SEK 100 thousand to continue to develop their projects. Individuals, groups or organizations can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else. Nominations from all over the world are welcome. The deadline is 15 May 2022. Cisco — Global Problem Solver Challenge 2022

Cisco invites submissions of innovative technology solutions from student entrepreneurs around the world that solve the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems. The Challenge is open to students and recent alumni from any college or university. A total of US$1 million in prize money will be awarded for the adoption and development of breakthrough technologies, products, and services that drive economic development or solve social and environmental problems. United Nations — Human Rights to Water and Sanitation

The OHCHR Human Rights Youth Challenge invites youth aged between 16 – 24 to produce and submit a video on: “the human rights to water and sanitation of peoples living close to nature”. Videos and digital content may focus on, but not limited to, indigenous peoples, peasants, farmers, fisherfolks, hunters and gatherers, livestock rearers, and traders. The winner will be invited to speak at a side-event of the UN Human Rights Council in September 2022. The deadline for submission is 15 February 2022. 5th Human Rights Youth Challenge

One Young World — Afri-Plastics Challenge

One Young World seeks applications for Afri-Plastics Challenge. The challenge supports the development of early-stage products, technology and/or services that encourage the reduction or elimination of plastic usage across Sub-Saharan Africa. 10 selected finalists will receive a grant of £75 thousand to support in the development and validation of their solutions. Applicants can be formally constituted and operating in Sub-Saharan Africa as either a registered business or NGO, but applications from individuals and community groups will also be accepted. United Nations — World Wildlife Day Film Showcase

The United Nations World Wildlife Day organizes an international film showcase along the theme of “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”. Organizers seek films that explore the threats to wild fauna and flora, their central importance for their habitats and ecosystems and for the communities who live near them, and initiatives to conserve them.
