World Academy of Sciences — PhD Training Fellowships for Women Scientists

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) invites women scientists in the field of agriculture (and other sciences) from science and technology lagging countries to apply for the OWSD PhD Training Fellowships. Each fellow will receive a monthly allowance to cover basic living expenses, a special allowance to attend international conferences, travel expenses, medical insurance, and the opportunity to attend regional science communications workshops for up to four years. EU-LAC Interest Group — Science, Technology and Innovation

The EU-LAC Interest Group launches a Joint Call to enhance the bi-regional cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation. The aim of the call is to initiate sustainable and multilateral research cooperation between researchers from Europe, Latin-America and the Caribbean countries. Transnational consortia are invited to submit proposals related to six topics in the thematic fields of Global Challenges, Health, Biodiversity, and Energy. U.S. Embassy in Madagascar — Workshops for Environmental Stewardship

The U.S. Embassy in Madagascar announces funding for lectures, seminars, training, or workshops improving environmental stewardship, sustainable management of natural resources, and biodiversity conservation. Funding will range from US$2 thousand to US$5 thousand per project. The program supports projects proposed by US, Malagasy, or Comorian educational, cultural, and other non-profit organizations or individuals. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2022. Details

ETH Zurich — Doctoral Scholarships in Engineering

Engineering for Development (E4D) awards two doctoral scholarships per year and promotes projects that are directly relevant for improving the livelihoods of underprivileged people in low-income countries. Funding of CHF 175 thousand is available to cover salary costs of selected doctoral students for three years. Interested candidates have to find an ETH professor who supports their application. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Orange Tulip Scholarship 2022/2023

Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organization for internationalization in education, offers scholarships for studies in the Netherlands. Students from China, India, Indonesia, South Africa, Korea, Russia and Vietnam are invited to apply for studies at selected universities listed in the call. Subject areas include earth sciences, ecology, and many others. The Orange Tulip Scholarship recipients will get discounts on study fees ranging from 30% to 100%, or an offer for living expenses per month (without a discount on study fees).  Potentially interested individuals should review the courses and dates offered by the participating Dutch higher education institutions, and information about how to apply. European Commission — Development of Climate Change Risk Assessments

The European Commission seeks proposals for development of climate change risk assessments in European regions and communities. The project is expected to develop an operational more advanced multi-risk assessment framework tool, enhance adaptive capacity of communities and reduce vulnerability to climate change. To be eligible for funding, applicants must be established in the European Union, the Overseas Countries and Territories of the EU, or low- and middle-income countries. World Wildlife Fund — Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Grant

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) invites applications for the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Grant. The grant aims to provide financial support to teams and institutions working in Kenya, Tanzania, and Madagascar focusing on enhancing capacities to address environmental and social impact assessment capacity building needs with an emphasis on local communities. Applicants may request up to US$15 thousand. Applications must be submitted by 15 April 2022. Link to WWF

Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Future Matters Scholarship

The NN Future Matters scholarship and coaching program supports professional development by offering young people who need support access to mentorship and coaching throughout their studies. The scholarship consists of €5 thousand and a mentorship. Students have to be enrolled at a full-time program in the field of finance, risk management, economics, data science, entrepreneurship or IT at one of nine participating Dutch research universities. Only students from Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain or Turkey are eligible. The application deadline is 01 April 2022. World Academy of Sciences — Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Award

The Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Prize recognizes woman scientists from least-developed countries with scientific achievements in clean and renewable energy; sustainable agriculture and agro-biodiversity; plastic pollution and microplastics, water purification and sanitation, climate change, waste management, biodiversity conservation, and other themes related to sustainability. The winner will receive a cash award of US$4 thousand. Candidates should be working and living in an LDC country for at least two years prior to nomination. European Commission — Biodiversity in Outermost Regions

The European Commission (EC) announces a call for proposals to finance small grants for biodiversity conservation and restoration action in the EU outermost regions and overseas countries located in the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Amazon, Pacific, Polar and Subpolar and Micronesian regions. The available overall budget is €32 million. In order to be eligible, the applicants must be legal entities, be established in EU Member States or overseas countries and territories and be active in the areas of nature conservation and climate change.
