International Fund for Agricultural Development — Rural Youth Innovation Award in Latin America and the Caribbean

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) launches an award to promote youth initiatives for innovation in rural areas. The award will promote the initiatives of young people who are taking action to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in rural areas. IFAD seeks solutions that constitute examples of good practices and technologies applied and implemented to overcome the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic in the region. The initiative should contribute to solving problems related to rural areas, especially with small local producers. Participants must be young nationals (18-35 years) of Latin America and the Caribbean. Participants will compete for financial resources, products and services, and loans. Climate Action Innovation Network — Artificial Intelligence for Climate Action

The Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC) and the Swedish International Development Agency seek organizations from low and lower-middle income countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to host the Climate Action Innovation Network. Applicants must have a proven track record in the design, development, and scaling of climate change and artificial intelligence innovations. The goal is to advance the development of artificial intelligence (AI) innovations to tackle pressing challenges emerging from climate change in Africa. The opportunity will provide funding of up to C$1.2 million to design and implement an innovation research network of researchers and innovators applying responsible AI techniques. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation of Marine Turtles

The Marine Turtle Conservation Fund (MTCA) accepts proposals for the conservation of priority nesting populations of six of the seven species of marine turtles (Chelonia mydas, Caretta caretta, Dermochelys coriacea, Eretmochelys imbricata, Lepidochelys olivacea, Lepidochelys kempii) throughout their range worldwide. The fund provides financial support for projects that conserve nesting populations and habitat and address other threats to the survival of marine turtles in range countries. Applicants may request between US$25 to US$200 thousand. Applicants can be individuals; government agencies; non-profit organizations; for-profit organizations; or universities. Dutch Postcode Lottery — Green Challenge 2021

The Dutch Postcode Lottery offers the Green Challenge to encourage the development of products and services that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The competition is open to entrepreneurs with an innovative, green and scalable business from Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. European Commission — Support for Social Enterprises in North Macedonia

The European Commission (EC) supports social enterprises in North Macedonia through knowledge transfer and mentoring as well as informal education and training activities on issues related to operating a social enterprise. The EC’s grant scheme provides financial support to projects focused on establishment of social enterprises or extension of the scope of work of existing social enterprises. The overall amount made available under this call for proposals is €500 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations that have been established for at least 2 years in the Republic of North Macedonia. The application deadline is 20 April 2021. Link

WASCAL — International Master’s Program in Energy

The International Master’s Program in Energy and Green Hydrogen Technology (IMP-EGH) aims to prepare young innovators to address the energy challenges of adaptation and resilience to climate change in West Africa. The West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) offers scholarships to students from all West African countries with Bsc in Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering and related fields. U.S. Department of State — Small Grants Program

The U.S. Mission to Kazakhstan invites applications for the Small Grants Program. Priority focus will be given to projects that focus on countering human trafficking, addressing air quality, and promoting renewable energy. Non-governmental and/or non-profit organizations registered in Kazakhstan are eligible for this program. Awards are between US$10 thousand and US$50 thousand. Volkswagen Foundation — Funding for Young Researchers

Through its program ‘Freigeist’ the Volkswagen Foundation seeks open-minded, strong and resistant young researchers with innovative ideas from all around the world. The ‘Freigeist’ scheme is open to all disciplines and research topics and offers the opportunity to establish a career within a scientific research organization or university in Germany. Eligibility extends to junior researchers (up to 4 years of postdoctoral experience). What Design Can Do — No Waste Challenge

The No Waste Challenge is a global competition by What Design Can Do (WDCD) in partnership with the IKEA Foundation. WDCD invites creative thinkers to submit innovative solutions to reduce waste and to rethink the entire production and consumption cycle. Government of India — Indo-Italian Joint Research Program

The Governments of India and Italy invite joint research projects by researchers of both countries. The aim is to encourage scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and India. Proposals for joint research in the following scientific areas (relevant to TVG) are eligible: Ecological and Environmental Modeling; Water Management; and Disaster Risk Management. The fund will cover research expenses, exchange of visits for research projects, and workshops. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 09 April 2021. Find the call
