Lush Retail Inc. — Lush Prize 2018

The Lush Prize rewards initiatives across science and campaigning that work to end or replace animal testing. The prize consists of an annual fund of between £250 and £350 thousand. Projects and individuals working towards the goal of replacing animals in product or ingredient safety testing across five strategic areas (1) Lobbying, (2) Public Awareness, (3) Science (4) Training, and (5) Young Researcher are eligible to apply. British Council — Research Workshops

The British Council announces workshops that convene UK researchers with partners in other countries. Among the workshops that have deadlines beyond the date of this posting are: China, Socially Responsible Waste Management (deadline 25 May 2018); China, Innovations in Agriculture and Food for Healthy Societies (deadline 01 June 2018); China, Membranes for Energy and Environmental Applications (deadline 22 June 2018); Kenya, Improving food security and nutrition in Kenya (deadline 29 June 2018). Center for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries — Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research

The NAM S&T Centre invites applications from scientists from the developing countries for the Joint NAM S&T Centre – ZMT Bremen (Germany) Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research. Under this scheme, five selected scientists will work with senior researchers and faculty members in fields related to Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, and Tropical Coastal Marine Systems; and undertaking short-term joint research projects for a period of up to 3 months. Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation — City Region Food Systems

The SDC calls for proposals for innovations in city region food systems that can reach millions of people living in poverty. The proposed projects under this call should focus on small and middle-sized towns (market towns) in developing countries. Eligibility extends to local or international institutions. Woodard & Curran Foundation — Water and Climate Change

The Woodard & Curran Foundation funds innovative projects that apply or advances technology by addressing water issues relating to climate change. One total grant of US$100 thousand will be awarded over three consecutive years. Eligibility extends to US-based non-profit organizations. University of Michigan — Conference on Sustainability and Development

The University of Michigan seeks abstracts for presentations, workshops, and applications for financial assistance from students and scholars from lower-income countries for participation in the international conference on Sustainability and Development (9-11 November 2018). The conference themes are Sustainable Development and Indigenous Peoples, Climate Change, Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Health, Biodiversity and Conservation, Energy Provision and Access, among others. Antipode Foundation — International Workshop Awards

The Antipode Foundation promotes scientific research, education and makes scholarships in the field of radical geography. The International Workshop Awards are intended to support geographers holding events (including conferences, workshops, seminars, summer schools and action research meetings) that further analyses of geographical issues and engender the development of a new and better society. Successful candidates receive up to £10 thousand (or its equivalent in the awardee’s currency of choice). U.S. Agency for International Development — Nutrition Innovations in Complex Environments

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks organizations to co-create, co-design, co-invest, and collaborate on research and development innovations to prevent and treat nutrition vulnerabilities in complex environments. Areas of interest include innovations to maximize impact across sectors, including health, agriculture and humanitarian assistance. Barcelona Zoo Foundation — Grants for Research and Conservation Projects

The Barcelona Zoo Foundation provides grants and financial aid to research and conservation projects focussing on animal wellbeing and knowledge of species in their environment; applied conservation techniques, both in situ and ex situ, at a global level; and Mediterranean biodiversity. Eligibility extends to individuals and non-profit organizations. Projects may be submitted in English, Spanish, or Catalan. GHR Foundation — BridgeBuilder Competition

The GHR Foundation invites proposals that address urgent global challenges in radically new ways. The BridgeBuilder Challenge to invite solutions that connect peace, prosperity, and the planet. Submissions should target a specific, pressing, and solvable need across two or more of these themes. The competition is open to non-profit and for-profit organizations established for at least one year. Proposed projects should not be longer than three years. Awards are up to US$500 thousand.
