Land Accelerator — Restoration of Degraded Forests and Farmland (Latin America)

The Land Accelerator trains and supports entrepreneurs that restore degraded forests and farmland. The program offers an all-virtual business creation and growth accelerator in Latin America. The accelerator is designed for companies that are in the testing phase of taking their product to market. Any business model that is recognized as restoring land is eligible, including, but not limited to smart agriculture, water conservation, agroforestry, tree planting, and beekeeping, forest conservation. Celebrate Islands — Video Contest for Project Funding

Celebrate Islands invites video submissions for a contest “My project in 120 seconds” giving winners the opportunity to implement a small project on their island. Projects need to be achievable within one month and may focus on biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, waste and plastic, sustainable economic activities (such as fisheries, agriculture, etc.), water efficiency or energy supply. Celebrate Islands intends to award 3 projects with €3 thousand each. Island projects can be submitted from all around the world but need to focus on an island of less than 150km². Canadian International Development Research Center — Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture

The Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC) and the Swedish International Development Agency seek organizations from low and lower-middle income countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to host an African-based research network on responsible artificial intelligence innovations in agriculture and food systems. Applicants must have a proven track record in the design, development, and scaling of artificial intelligence innovations in agriculture and food systems. IDRC will provide funding of up to C$1.2 million to design and implement an innovation research network of researchers and innovators applying responsible AI techniques. European Commission — Communal Livestock in Namibia

The European Commission (EC) seeks to promote entrepreneurship and enhance the livelihood of Namibia’s livestock farming communities in a sustainable way. The EC requests proposals that improve the livestock production system and its resilience to climate change; and/or increase livestock farmers’ access to domestic, regional and international markets.  Funding of up to €1.1 million is available. Islamic Development Bank — Science, Technology and Innovation Transform Fund

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) seeks applications for the Transform Fund. The Transform Fund Call for Innovation 2021 will focus on building resilience through innovation in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic in relation to 6 Sustainable Development Goals: Zero Hunger; Good Health and Well-Being; Quality Education; Clean Water and Sanitation; Affordable and Clean Energy; and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. RACI — Innovation Fund for Organizations from Latin America and the Caribbean

The Innovation for Change (I4C) Hub supports organizations from Latin America and Caribbean that work to strengthen civil society through innovation. RACI provides seed funding to local, national and regional organizations for innovative movements and initiatives that creatively tackle community challenges related to one or more of the following areas: Sustainability; Transparency and accountability; Promoting an enabling environment. Projects should last up to 4 months. The Fund will provide up to US$10 thousand per project. Only non-for-profit civil society organizations can apply. The deadline to apply is 26 March 2021. IFOAM – Organics International — Organic Farming Innovation Award

IFOAM – Organics International and partners accept applications for the Organic Farming Innovation Award (OFIA). OFIA highlights exceptional innovations and incentivizes activities among researchers, extension agents, practitioners that contribute to solving problems in organic farming. The prize is awarded in two categories: the Grand Prize and the Science Prize. Each winner will receive a monetary award (Grand Prize: US$10 thousand and Science Prize: US$5 thousand), and be invited to the 20th edition of the Organic World Congress. Swedish Research Council — Research Links Program

The Swedish Research Links Program funds research cooperation between scientists in Sweden and scientists in selected low and middle-income countries. Past grants have funded research to address water pollution; control of agricultural diseases and post-harvest losses; livestock introductions; management of protected areas; and various other topics related to agriculture and natural resources. The maximum amount is SEK 400 thousand per year for up to two years. The closing date for applications is 13 April 2021. Find out more

International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture — Arab Women Leaders in Agriculture

The International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) seeks applications for the Arab Women Leaders in Agriculture “Awla Fellowship.” The Awla Fellowship is a capacity building program and research fellowship for early- and mid-career female professionals in agriculture. Participants receive research and development training, coaching and mentoring to guide their career development. Eligibility extends to Arab women researchers from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. The deadline to apply is 15 April 2021. Link

India Department of Science and Technology — Indo-Russian Joint Research

The India Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) invite joint research proposals in the areas of basic science. Focus areas include Plant and Animal Biotechnology; Clean Energy; and Safe Food; among others. Each project will receive annual funding of up to equivalent of US$100 thousand in respective national currencies for up to three years. Research projects should be carried out jointly by research teams from India and Russia. Researchers must submit their application by 15 June 2021. Know more
