European Commission — Youth Entrepreneurs in Agriculture

The European Union seeks proposals for projects that address challenges and create opportunities for the youth in Swaziland through entrepreneurship opportunities in sustainable agriculture. Grants requested must fall between €372 thousand and €472 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations located in the European Union or Swaziland. United States-India Science & Technology Endowment Fund — 9th Call for Proposals

The USISTEF announces its 9th competitive call for proposals to commercialize technologies for societal impact. Priority areas include health, education, agriculture, water, and others. Proposals must include at least one partner from each country, India and USA. Funding is up to Rs. 2.5 crores (approximately US$400 thousand) for projects that demonstrate a high potential to be commercial within 2-3 years. The bi-national teams can include incorporated companies; non-incorporated entities; and individuals or consortia from academic, government, and non-government R&D institutions. ZipRecruiter — Post-Graduate Scholarship

ZipRecruiter is an online platform for job seekers and employers. The platform launches its call for the Winter/Spring 2018 Scholarship Promotion. College or university students may submit a small essay about a previous job they’ve held and their ideal post-graduate career for the chance to win a $3 thousand scholarship. Participants must be enrolled as a student at an accredited high school, college or university. Newton Fund — UK-Colombia Agri-tech Catalyst 2018

UK organisations can apply to work with Colombian partners on innovative agricultural solutions in Colombia. Subject areas are new technologies and innovations in the Colombian agriculture sector, particularly by female smallholder farmers. Early-stage awards range from £150 thousand to £500 thousand for up to 18 months. Late-stage awards range from £200 thousand to £800 thousand. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Improving Mexican Crop Resilience

The UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), in collaboration with Mexican partners, announces a call for collaborative proposals on improving Mexican crop resilience to abiotic stress. Collaborative applications are invited from UK and Mexico-based researchers. Applicants may request up to a maximum of £533 thousand on the UK side and up to $5 million MXN on the Mexican side. EuroScience — Mobility Grant to attend the EuroScience Open Forum

The Nature Travel Grant Scheme offers journalists and members of media organisations from around the world the opportunity to attend EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) in Toulouse (France) in July 2018. The biennial forum is dedicated to scientific research and innovation from all sectors. The grant offers complimentary registration as well as help covering travel and accommodation costs. United States Government — Science Prize for Women

The 2018 ASEAN-U.S. Science Prize for Women seeks to identify and recognize ASEAN-based, early to mid-career women who are using applied sciences to solve agricultural challenges. The top two finalists will be invited to compete in a pitch competition during an ASEAN Ministerial event in the Philippines in October 2018. The overall winner will receive $20 thousand. Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Challenge to Reduce Post-Harvest Losses

The 2018 Food Connection Challenge invites SMEs from the agri/food sector in Nigeria and Benin to submit their innovative ideas to reduce post-harvest losses. Participants will benefit from workshops, training sessions, and remote coaching to turn their ideas into a business plan. The winner will receive matching funding up to a maximum of €20 thousand. Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation — Pitch AgriHack 2018

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), with the support of the African Development Bank (AfDB) launches the Pitch AgriHack 2018. The theme for this year’s edition is “Women entrepreneurs innovate for agricultural transformation in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific”. The competition is open to both male and female founders and co-founders of e-agri startups offering digital services to the agricultural sector. Applicants must be aged between 18 to 35 years and need to be nationals and residents of African, Caribbean or Pacific countries. 50% of finalists will be women founders or co-founders of startups. Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and other regional partner countries to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The programme intends to tackle global challenges – such as climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, rural and urban development, and food safety among others.
