Climate Tracker seeks 15 journalists from across the Philippines for a three-day workshop on climate justice reporting. Climate Tracker will make 5 travel grants for deserving applicants to attend the workshop. One participating journalist will be selected for a fully-funded trip to Germany, to cover the UN climate talks in June. Cities Alliance seeks affordable and innovative climate adaptation concepts, products and processes at the community level to foster the dialogue between local communities and local governments. This specific call targets urban communities in two sub-regions, the Greater Horn of Africa (Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda) and the Bay of Bengal (Bangladesh and Myanmar). Projects with a duration of 8 months can request funding of up to US$30 thousand. Community-based organisations, national and local NGOs and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply. UN Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Greenhouse Gas Inventory & Research Center of Korea accept applications for a professional training program on the transparency of climate action and support. The program is open to national climate experts from developing countries. The overall goal is to enhance the technical capacity of individuals and to improve the overall competency in reporting on climate change. The Global LEAP Electric Pressure Cooker Competition recognizes manufacturers and distributors of electric pressure cookers that design energy efficient electric pressure cookers suitable for use in off-and weak-grid settings. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seeks an implementing partner to scale-up renewable energy technologies in existing IFAD agriculture projects in the Latin America and Caribbean for the benefit of smallholder farmers and producers. IFAD will make a three-year grant of US$2 million to be used for implementing and scaling-up energy technologies. The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, U.S. State Department, announces the “Building Air Quality Management Capacity in Central Asia” program. The project targets government entities with the intend to strengthen regulatory and monitoring capacity of government actors and expand awareness of air quality issues in Central Asian countries. The program intends to provide US$296,296 in funding to be used for the production of educational materials, expert workshops, and the development of a monitoring and evaluation plan to be used by key agencies. Countries eligible for funding under this award include: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The Foundation “Future of the Carbon Market” (Stiftung Zukunft des Kohlenstoffmarktes) promotes a market-based approach at a program level to reduce carbon emissions in developing countries. The program approach relies on start-up finance generated by the sale of tradable emissions certificates, combined with national policies and incentives favorable to emissions reductions. The Foundation posts funding guidelines and application forms for programmatic Emission Reduction Initiative (Non-CDM) activities. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to journalists based in eastern India and coastal Bangladesh to report on critical issues related to climate change. ENJ seeks in-depth stories that focus on climate and environmental change, such as climate-induced migration, agricultural and water issues or food security in the Bay of Bengal region. EJN expects to award at least 10 grants averaging US$1,300 each. Early- or mid-career journalists from print, web, radio and television are eligible.
