The Student Solidarity Awards aim to encourage associations of students in institutions of higher education to take initiatives in community-oriented projects. The program is open in countries around the world where the Veolia group is present. The awards are for innovative approaches in themes that include environmental conservation, development aid, and workforce development. Three contest winners will divide €10 thousand in grants. The South African Fulbright Foreign Student Program provides grants for university graduates to pursue postgraduate studies at a United States university. The Fulbright program covers graduate degrees up to two years. The scholarship is not restricted to programs or specific subject areas. Applications for the 2023-2024 academic year have to be submitted by 01 May 2022. Fulbright

The University of Nottingham provides international scholarships for postgraduate masters courses to nationals of Africa, India, or countries of the Commonwealth. Thematic areas include engineering and sciences. Priority will be given to candidates who have not previously studied outside of their home country. Scholarships are available to cover either 50% or 100% of tuition fees. Students who want to make a difference to the development of their home country are encouraged to apply by 20 May 2022. VLIR-UOS is the secretariat of Flemish universities for development cooperation, with funding by Belgian Development Cooperation. VLIR-UOS announces courses at Belgian Flemish universities and university colleges that are eligible for scholarships in 2022/23. They include 1-year masters’ programs, along with training courses lasting from two weeks to three months. Subject areas include aquaculture, marine science, plant breeding, nematology, water resources, rural development, and others. Eligibility for scholarships extends to applicants from developing countries in Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. The scholarship amount varies with a maximum support of €58,320. Candidates apply directly to the Flemish universities that offer the programs, requesting scholarship support. The deadline for submission project proposals to Flemish universities is between February and March 2022 (depending on the program). Details here

KU Leuven is the largest university in Flanders, Belgium. As one part of its cooperation to advance international development, KU Leuven offers 10 PhD scholarships to candidates from developing countries. The university offers sandwich scholarships, which means that 50% of the research takes place at KU Leuven and 50% at the home institution of the scholar, as well as full-time research at KU Leuven (4 years). The scholarships are offered to proposals that deal with a development-relevant research topic, preferably linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. The NN Future Matters scholarship and coaching program supports professional development by offering young people who need support access to mentorship and coaching throughout their studies. The scholarship consists of €5 thousand and a mentorship. Students have to be enrolled at a full-time program in the field of finance, risk management, economics, data science, entrepreneurship or IT at one of nine participating Dutch research universities. Only students from Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain or Turkey are eligible. The application deadline is 01 April 2022. The Public Diplomacy Grants Program aims to promote positive relations between Morocco and the United States and help Moroccan youth (aged 14-25) build and develop skills to improve their potential through innovative science (especially environmental and health awareness), technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) programs. The U.S. Mission considers proposals for projects ranging from US$5 thousand to US$25 thousand. An organization or individual may submit an application. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until 31 May 2022. Morocco STEM Youth Engagement

The ASIP Accelerator Program seeks African startups in sectors including AgriTech and CleanTech. The program is ideal for tech-oriented startups looking to scale through corporate and public sector partnerships. The program offers bootcamps and training events as well as benefits (Google Cloud Services, Hubspot, etc.) and €15 thousand in cash to each startup. Applications close 28 January 2022. AECF builds resilience and sustainable incomes for rural and marginalised communities in Africa. The Kakuma Kalobeyei Challenge Fund (KKCF) is a competitive business challenge  that will support established companies, social enterprises, and local entrepreneurs in implementing commercially viable and sustainable businesses in the Kakuma refugee camp and Turkana County (Kenya). The Fund provides grants ranging from US$100 thousand to US$750 thousand and technical assistance to micro and small enterprises. Project sectors include water, agribusiness and renewable energy, among others. The deadline for applications is 31 January 2022. Competitive Business Challenge

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders from ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Summit 2022 is an assembly of Southeast Asian youths to bring forth science, solutions, and solidarity for a livable future. The Summit “Empowering Technology for a Greener Future” invites YSEALI alumni to join online pre-Summit activities, 3-day workshops, and post-Summit engagements. Five teams will win US$2 thousand each in seed funds. Applicants must be between 18-35 years and citizens of Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Laos, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, or Timor-Leste.
