The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education offers scholarships to young Arab citizens for university studies in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) at any of the Foundation’s partner universities. The program GROW provides funding support to U.S. graduate students to engage in international research cooperation. GROW Fellows will receive a travel allowance of US$5 thousand to cover travel and research costs associated with the international research collaboration. Collaboration is with partner institutions in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Qatar, Singapore, and Sweden. The Office of Citizen Exchanges announces an open competition to conduct a four-week U.S.-based exchange program for teenagers and adult educators. The activities for each program will focus on civic education, community engagement and prepare participants to conduct projects at home that serve a community need. Applicants should plan to provide U.S.-based programming for 17-18 youth and 2-3 adult participants from Burma. Applicants may request up to US$190 thousand in project funding. The African Leaders of Tomorrow (ALofT) Project is an online-based youth development programme designed to cultivate future thought leaders by empowering exceptional young Africans. The program is open to African students in any field of business, economic, political or social development (including but not limited to agriculture and other related themes). The 6-month project is structured around a web-based curriculum, delivered via an e-learning platform. Students who successfully complete the program will receive an official certificate of completion and a reference letter. Closing date for applications is 31 December 2018. The ALofT Project

The Innovation Award will be presented to researchers in Africa and their German partners for proven outstanding collaborative research projects in the fields of environmental sciences, bioeconomy, resource management, and others. Project grants of a maximum €150 thousand are provided for a maximum period of 24 months. Applications may be submitted by universities, research institutions and as well as commercial companies. The Swedish Agency for Development Cooperation (Sida) seeks applications for its Planning Grants program. Grants are awarded to help entrepreneurs explore new markets and research their technology’s impact on the environment and poverty reduction. The programme’s emphasis is on cleantech products, systems, processes, and services in the following focus areas: climate change adaptation/mitigation; ecosystem services; renewable energy; water and sanitation; and urban development. Eligibility extends to companies or organisations based in Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Bolivia, Colombia, Guatemala, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) jointly invite applications for the CAS-TWAS President’s PhD Fellowship Programme to pursue PhD studies in China. The participating institutions are the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences; the University of Science and Technology of China; and CAS institutes around China. Eligible fields of study include agricultural sciences, various fields of agricultural sciences, biology, and other areas of the natural sciences and engineering. The programme will award up to 200 scholarships to non-Chinese applicants worldwide. The maximum age of applicants is 35. The application deadline is 31 March 2019. Opportunity

The European Commission aims to strengthen the ability of Indian civil society to implement actions that bring transformative change into the lives of women and girls. Priority will be given to proposals building capacities with specific emphasis on increasing women’s participation in the climate change agenda and promoting women’s economic rights (which may include agriculture). The Overseas Development Institute (ODI) is an independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues. The ODI Fellowship Scheme appoints highly qualified postgraduate economists and statisticians through a competitive selection process. The fellowship scheme is open to candidates of all nationalities who have a master’s degree or PhD in economics, statistics or a related field. Suitable specialised qualifications at postgraduate level include agricultural economics, environmental economics, water and climate, among others. The total support per fellow amounts to approximately £21 thousand in the first year of the fellowship and £23 thousand in the second year. The deadline for applications is 2 December 2018. The European Commission aims to increase capacity and establish an enabling environment for Thai CSOs to address issues of poverty and inequality. One of the priorities under this call is to increase participation in climate change and environmental policy making and implementation. Eligible actions include mainly capacity building, networking, advocacy and research activities. Grants requested under this call for proposals must fall between €500 thousand and €750 thousand.
