The AEN secretariat and 3ie offer bursaries to Africans for attending the Evidence to Action Conference 2019 Conference in Ghana. The 2019 conference program will focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Applicants from the MENA or Sub-Saharan Africa region can apply for a full bursary after submitting an abstract. The bursaries cover the cost of conference registration, air travel, and accommodation, or a partial bursary which is a waiver of the conference registration fee only. The National Geographic Society seeks middle school students and educators in the United States, Mexico, and Canada to submit proposals for creative projects that address one of the focus areas of Human Journey, Wildlife, or Changing Planet. Projects should move students from engagement to inspiration to action and increase students’ appreciation of the natural world, exhibiting increased cultural empathy and understanding. TWAS offers postdoc fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) who wish to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang, Malaysia. The duration of the fellowships is 12 months to 3 years. Subject areas range across the physical and natural sciences, including agricultural sciences. The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme invites international candidates from developing countries to apply for training courses scheduled during October-December in India. Topics for this period include courses in the themes of power, renewable & alternative energy; agriculture and rural development; environment & climate change; and others. The program covers transportation and visa costs, course fees, accommodation, and living and book allowances for course participants. The Land Rover Bursary supports researcher and explorer teams by providing funding of up to £30 thousand and the loan of a vehicle. The bursary is intended to be used for a journey with a geographical purpose where the capabilities of a Land Rover are indispensable. The application deadline is 30 November 2019. The University of Michigan seeks abstracts for presentations, workshops, and applications for financial assistance from students and scholars from lower-income countries for participation in the international conference on Sustainability and Development (11-14 October 2019). The conference themes are Sustainable Development and Indigenous Peoples, Climate Change, Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Health, Biodiversity and Conservation, Energy Provision and Access, among others. The Sustainability and Development Initiative supports a limited number of participants from lower income countries with small grants to cover registration, travel, and accommodation. DG Trésor invites French companies to submit innovative ideas and project proposals on solutions for sustainable cities in Africa. Up to 12 selected French SMEs and startups will receive up to €500 thousand to implement their project idea. Proposed projects can fall within the areas clean energy, climate, water, waste management, among others, and should be implemented in partnership with local African partners. The Takeda Foundation accepts applications for the Takeda Young Entrepreneurship Award. The Award is for young entrepreneurs trying to address real technological and social needs by creating goods and services that enhance the well-being of communities around the world. Past winners include projects in the field of water management, disaster-relief and biotechnology, among others. The winner of the Best Entrepreneur Award will receive 1 million Japanese yen. The Purley Overseas Trust aims to address the problems of deprivation in the developing world by supporting grassroots projects which allow people to help themselves. The Trust makes grants for small-scale projects across a range of interests that include agriculture, water supply, energy, and others. Grant recipients are development-oriented charities in the UK and internationally. There is no limit on grant size, but most grants are in the range of £200 to £1,000.
