The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), ESRC, NERC and Innovate UK invite applications for the ‘UKRI-GCRF Sustainable Energy and International Development: Beyond Technology’ call. The call aims to support cutting-edge research and innovation which addresses the problems faced by developing countries. Applicants from all disciplines are welcome to apply. Candidates must be from a UK based organisation, however, the call also funds international co-investigators. There will be four proposals funded of up to £1.5 million per grant. International Fund for Agricultural Development — Reporting Rural Poverty and Agricultural Development
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the specialised UN agency, funds journalists from around Africa to attend the workshop ‘Reporting Rural Poverty and Agricultural Development’. The programme aim is to enable journalists to tell the story of rural development. Participants will have the opportunity to attend the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) in Kigali in September 2019. Eligibility extends to full-time journalists from across Africa. European Commission — Cross Border Cooperation Programme for Environment
The EC announces funding for the Cross Border Cooperation Programme for Environment – Albania Kosovo. The objectives of the programme are to strengthen good neighbourly relations and foster environmentally friendly and social inclusive economic development of the bordering regions, through the promotion of their touristic potential and respect of its common cultural and natural heritage. The first lot will be allocated to the development of green economy and circular economy, and the second lot to tackling water pollution and promoting climate change adaptation related to water basins. Eligibility for funding extends to non profit legal organizations from either Albania or Kosovo. The grant requested under this call for proposals must be between €420 thousand and €840 thousand for Lot 1 and between €600 thousand and €1.2 million for Lot 2. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Eurasia and Central Asia
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in any one of the following countries: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkmenistan. The priorities under this call include one on environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is expected to be in the range of C$15 thousand to C$30 thousand per project. Larger projects may be considered on an exceptional basis. The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting provides travel grants to cover hard costs associated with upcoming travel for an international reporting project. The Pulitzer Center seeks applications for data-driven journalism projects related to land rights and property rights. Projects may focus on issues related to indigenous land rights due to the exploration of natural resources, among many other themes. Most awards fall in the range of US$5-15 thousand.
