Tusk Trust — Awards for African Conservation 2026

The Tusk Conservation Awards highlight the achievements of individuals working for conservation in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa (£100 thousand) is awarded to a distinguished individual for exceptional lifetime achievement in African conservation. The Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa (£75 thousand) is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated a considerable commitment to conservation, and who has already made a significant impact. The Tusk Wildlife Ranger Award (£30 thousand) recognizes the dedication and commitment of an individual who works in the field on a daily basis protecting Africa’s wildlife. European Union — COAL Prize 2026

The COAL Prize 2026 invites artists to submit projects dedicated to “The Night.” The program seeks to support contemporary art that addresses ecological issues by defending the night as a common good, a refuge for biodiversity, and a vital rhythm for the regeneration of life. The Prize is open to artists from all over the world. The winner receives €12 thousand to support artwork in progress and benefits from an (optional) residence run by the Museum of Hunting and Nature at the Belval Domaine. In parallel, a call for projects is open for the COAL Student Prize – Culture & Diversity for students of schools in the artistic and cultural field. The application deadline is 28 April 2026. International Development Research Centre — Science Granting Councils Capacity Strengthening Hub

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) invites proposals to establish and operate a Capacity Strengthening Hub for the third phase of the Science Granting Councils Initiative in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Hub will coordinate capacity-building plans, manage a digital knowledge-sharing platform, and support monitoring and evaluation for science granting councils across the region. Legally registered organizations or consortia based in Sub-Saharan Africa with expertise in research and innovation management are eligible to apply. Applicants must be able to work in both English and French. The grant provides up to CAN$500 thousand for a period of 30 months. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2026. Know more

SENSE Foundation Brussels — Advancing Research, Health, and Inclusion

SENSE Foundation Brussels invites applications for its grant program to support projects focused on health, environmental protection, and sustainable development. The foundation provides funding for initiatives in areas such as genetics, nutrition, and environmental resilience, as well as scholarships for students in scientific or specific artistic fields. Eligible applicants include legally registered non-profit organizations with at least two years of operational history, as well as students demonstrating academic merit and financial need. Grants cover a maximum of 25% of the total annual project cost, with a funding cap of €25 thousand per project. The program is open to organizations and individuals in Belgium and abroad. Australian Center for International Agricultural Research — John Allwright Fellowship

The Australian Center for International Agricultural Research awards the John Allwright Fellowship for university postgraduate studies in Australia. The aim of the Fellowship is to strengthen scientific research capability and institutional links in ACIAR partner countries to undertake high-quality and impactful research. In the 2027 intake round, research dedicated to addressing climate change, climate adaptation or strengthening resilience to climate change impacts is encouraged. Each awardee pursues research at an Australian tertiary institution relevant to the project in which the awardee is engaged. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2026. Link

Hurtigruten Foundation — Environmental and Community Grants

The Hurtigruten Foundation invites applications for projects that protect wildlife, reduce plastic waste, and support local communities in the areas where the company operates. The program funds grassroots initiatives, scientific research, and educational projects that promote sustainable tourism and climate change mitigation. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations and community groups active in Hurtigruten’s destinations, which include the Norwegian coast, Svalbard, Greenland, Iceland, Antarctica, and parts of the Americas and Africa. Grants typically range from 50,000 NOK to 100,000 NOK, though larger or smaller amounts are considered based on project needs. The deadlines are 01 May 2026 and 01 November 2026. Environmental Research and Education Foundation — Research on Solid Waste

The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) offers research grants on the management of solid wastes. Topics include waste minimization; recycling; waste conversion to energy, biofuels, chemicals, and other products; waste diversion to other uses; and landfills. There are no geographical restrictions on institutions that can apply. Previously awarded grants have ranged from US$15 thousand to over US$500 thousand (with an average grant amount of US$160 thousand). The deadlines for pre-proposals are 01 May and 01 December 2026. Ekhaga Foundation — Ecological Agriculture and Biological Medicine

The Ekhaga Foundation makes research grants in ecological agriculture and biological medicine. The main focus should be on scientific research and primarily applied research. Ekhagastiftelsen wishes primarily to support strategic and innovative projects of a pilot nature, as well as research that is highly newsworthy and that not just confirms previous findings. It is possible to apply for scholarships, but this is usually only granted for research-related projects. There is no maximum amount. Please note that the total amount awarded is usually in the range SEK 10-15 million. Universities, research institutes, etc., from all over the world are invited to apply. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Research Fellowship for Brazilian Postdoctoral Researchers

The Capes-Humboldt Research Fellowship supports postdoctoral researchers and experienced researchers from Brazil with their research in collaboration with a host at a German research institution. Fellowships may last from 6 to 18 months and can be divided into up to three stays within three years. The monthly fellowship amount is €2,600. The next application deadline is 25 May 2026. Patagonia — Environmental Grants

Patagonia supports innovative work that addresses the root causes of the environmental crisis and seeks to protect both the environment and affected communities. Patagonia funds action-oriented environmental projects that focus on root causes of the problem. The funding range is typically between US$5 to $15 thousand. At this time, support for the developing world is only available in Chile and Argentina. Applications have to be submitted by an environmental organization.
