Earth Journalism Network — Reporting Fellowships 2024

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) announces the launch of a new year-long fellowship program for journalists which will enhance reporting over four priority areas — climate change, biodiversity, the ocean and One Health. EJN seeks four environmental reporters which will provide journalistic training and mentorship, a quarterly salary stipend and funding for story production, travel and professional development opportunities. Fellows will receive a quarterly stipend of €6,000 to cover expenses for story production and €6,000 to cover travel to conferences and travel for story production. U.S. Department of State — Small Grants for Young Leaders in Southeast Asia

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders ages 18-35 in the ASEAN countries. YSEALI Seeds for the Future is a small grants competition that provides funding of up to $15 thousand for promising young leaders to carry out projects that improve their communities. The four core themes are (1) Civic Engagement, (2) Education, (3) Economic Empowerment and Social Entrepreneurship, and (4) Environmental Issues. The application deadline is 16 November 2023. BirdsCaribbean — Research and Conservation of Caribbean Birds

BirdsCaribbean invites applications for its grants programs. The James A. Kushlan Research and Conservation Fund provides support on an annual basis for biological, ecological and conservation research on waterbirds in the Caribbean region. The Betty Petersen Conservation Fund seeks to advance the conservation status of birds and habitats in the Caribbean region through projects that engage and empower communities and stakeholders to protect and benefit sustainably from their birds. David S. Lee Fund for the Conservation of Caribbean Birds supports applied and innovative projects with direct conservation effects on  Caribbean birds and/or their habitats. Awards range from US$2,500 to US$5,000. Grants will be awarded to anyone (individuals or organizations). Applicants from the Caribbean will be given consideration over other nationalities. Earth Journalism Network — Renewable Energy in India

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks to boost video content production and distribution of information to build awareness about renewable energy in India. EJN will support the production of video content on the subject, with the aim of improving access to quality information and raising awareness among policymakers, project developers, investors and consumers. EJN will provide grant funding and mentorship to each selected applicant, depending on the proposal and budget provided by the applicant. Applications are open to India-based video content producers with a demonstrated interest in covering the RE sector. The application deadline is 17 November 2023. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Caribbean Islands

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) makes small and large grants in support of biodiversity conservation in the Caribbean “Caribbean Islands Biodiversity Hotspot.” Grants are in support of community-based sustainable small-scale fisheries, protection and conservation of endangered marine species, marine protected areas management, and activities that promote improved marine and coastal ecosystems. Small grants are between US$5 thousand and US$50 thousand; large grants are greater than US$50 thousand. Eligibility for grants extends to NGOs, community groups, private enterprises, universities, and other civil society applicants. The extended deadline for letters of inquiry is 27 November 2023. Yves Rocher Foundation — International Terre de Femmes Award

The Yves Rocher Foundation invites applications for the International Terre de Femmes Award to honor women for their achievements in environmental awareness, conservation, and solidarity. The 6th edition in 2024, seeks applications under the theme “Insects for a Living Planet!”. The award will be given to a project launched by a woman or a group of women committed to the conservation of wildlife and associated ecosystems. The winner receives a monetary award of €10 thousand. The international award is open to women worldwide involved in a project that helps to protect the environment through a non-profit organization. The Frank M. Chapman Memorial Fund supports ornithological research anywhere in the world. MasterCard Foundation — Scholarships for Africans at the University of Edinburgh 2024

The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program funds citizens and residents of Sub-Saharan Africa for graduate studies at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. The fields of study include Environment; Food Security; Sustainable Energy Systems; and others. The Foundation will provide 3-year part-time online Master’s scholarships and 2-year part-time postgraduate diploma scholarships, which will cover the full tuition fees and expenses for accommodation and maintenance. The Wikimedia Research Fund provides support to individuals, groups, and organizations who have limited access to research funding and are proposing work that has a positive impact on their local communities.
