First Solar — Charitable Fund

First Solar manufactures solar modules with an advanced semiconductor technology. The First Solar Corporate Charitable Fund seeks to improve the quality of life in communities around the world. Priority is given to projects focusing on “green” education initiatives, access to clean energy and water in underserved areas, and furthering the development of innovative and sustainable technologies. Grant requests must be for projects or services that cost or exceed US$10 thousand. Requests under US$10 thousand should be directed to the First Solar local office nearest the grant seeker. U.S. Mission to Tajikistan — Environmental Awareness in Tajikistan

The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe announces funding for its Environmental Awareness and Action Campaign. The Embassy seeks grant proposals from Tajik non-governmental organizations and independent media organizations that focus on raising public awareness about air pollution, water pollution, or waste management in Tajikistan. Projects should be for a period of 9-12 months and have a budget of US$5 thousand to US$25 thousand. Proposals must be submitted by 14 August 2020. Details here

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Traditional Communities in the Cerrado

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is a global program that provides grants to civil society to safeguard the world’s biodiversity hotspots. The CEPF intends to engage a consultant to develop an innovative knowledge product that will document best practice pertaining to the identification and mapping of areas of social and environmental importance where “invisible” traditional communities of the Cerrado reside. The consultancy will be conducted over a six-month period between September 2020 and March 2021. The total amount of time for the assignment is estimated at 20 days. French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs — Franco-Palestinian Cooperation Partnership Projects

The French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) launches the new three-year call for projects (2019-2021) in support of decentralized cooperation partnership projects between French and Palestinian local authorities. The initiative aims at consolidating the partnerships in progress. All projects and actions located in the Palestinian Territories are eligible. Thematic areas include rural development, agriculture and food security; Water, sanitation and waste management; and renewable energy, among others. The MEAE provides at least €170 thousand per year. The call for projects is aimed at French and Palestinian local authorities (governorate, municipality, village council, local council, refugee camps). Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries — Special Call for Proposals on Firms and Climate Change

The Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL) Initiative announces a special research grant program specifically related to understanding the relationship between private sector development and the environment. The objective of PEDL is to fund cutting-edge, policy-oriented research that could be published in leading academic journals. Exploratory Research Grant (ERG) are grants of between £10 thousand and £40 thousand. Grants will fund research assistance, data collection and new surveys in LICs. Proposed projects must be relevant to policy in low-income countries in order to be eligible. The deadline for this special call is 31 August 2020. Link

Rothamsted International — International Fellowships

Rothamsted International is a nonprofit organization to advance sustainable agriculture in developing countries. The Rothamsted International Fellowship Scheme aims to promote the exchange of vital agricultural research skills between Rothamsted Research and scientists from low- to middle- income countries. The scheme will support up to 20 fellows for 6-12 months as visiting researchers in the UK. The deadline for applications is 28 September 2020. Know more

Olam International — Prize for Food Security 2021

The Olam Prize for Innovation in Food Security, in partnership with Agropolis Fondation, honors and offers financial support to an outstanding research project for its potential impact on the availability, affordability, accessibility, or adequacy of food. Olam invites applications from research projects in plant science, soil science, nutritional science, agricultural sciences, and any other field of scientific research impacting food security, focused on any part of the agricultural supply chain. The winning research project will receive US$75 thousand in unrestricted funding to support further development of the research project. The deadline for applications is 11 January 2021. Link
