International Fund for Agricultural Development — Earth Observation Data

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) makes grants for supporting the use of satellite data in project design, monitoring, and evaluation. The recipient can be a non-profit organization, private sector company, university, vocational training provider, or research institute. The deadline to receive proposals is 30 May 2024. Earth Observation — Sustainable Blue Economy

The Earth Observation Sustainable Blue Economy project aims to develop new products, indicators, and tools to support local Blue Economic activities and monitor their impact on the marine environment. Four contracts will be implemented, each targeting one among four possible themes: Aquaculture, Fisheries, Marine Renewable Energy, Leisure, and Tourism. The activity shall be implemented in close collaboration with Early Adopters such as permitting and regulating authorities, financial investors, and the Blue Economy sector operators. United Nations Environment Programme — Waste Management in Developing Countries

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invites governments to submit applications to a special program on waste management in developing countries. The program may provide financial support of up to US$275 thousand (in certain circumstances up to US$500 thousand) to strengthen the capacities of national institutions and help the government develop and monitor the implementation of national policies, strategies, programs, and legislation. Climate and Clean Air Coalition — Innovation Projects in the Agriculture Sector

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition launches a call for proposals seeking solutions to pressing challenges for short-lived climate pollutant mitigation in the agriculture sector. Projects submitted should advance innovative approaches and technologies to improve mitigation action in a developing region, country, or state. The call is open to non-profit entities, including government agencies. The deadline to submit a project concept note is 30 April 2024. Link

International Water Association — The Climate Smart Utilities Recognition Program

The International Water Association (IWA) launches the third edition of the IWA Climate Smart Utilities Recognition Program. The program recognizes ambitious and innovative efforts towards a low-carbon water and sanitation sector by utilities that are embracing the need to adapt to and mitigate climate change. Winners will receive an invitation (costs covered) to the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Toronto, Canada (August 2024). The application deadline is 20 May 2024. Details

World Academy of Sciences — TWAS-LUMS Postgraduate Fellowship

The Lahore University of Management Sciences and TWAS offer fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to pursue research towards a PhD in Natural Sciences and Engineering. The Fellowship may be granted for a maximum period of five years. LUMS will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs, such as food, accommodation, and local transportation. Applicants should be a maximum age of 35 years and hold a Master’s degree in a field of natural sciences. The deadline for receipt of applications is 11 October 2024. TWAS-LUMS

Sea Pact — Funding for Fisheries and Aquaculture

Sea Pact is a consortium of seafood companies to support continuous improvements of fisheries and aquaculture in an international context. Sea Pact accepts applications from non-profit and for-profit organizations. Past grant recipients include conservation organizations, marine research organizations, development NGOs, and others. F5 — Tech for Good Impact Grants

F5 provides Tech for Good Impact Grants and in-kind donations to help nonprofits update the technological resources they need to address the effects climate change has upon people of color and/or marginalized racial or ethnic communities. The size of the Tech for Good grants is US$50 thousand. Grant funding is open to non-profits in all countries. Applicants must address issues related to environmental justice, such as (but not limited to) climate change mitigation/resilience, hazardous or toxic waste, biodiversity, or environmental education. Pulitzer Center — Ocean Reporting Network

The Pulitzer Center accepts applications for the Ocean Reporting Network (ORN). The network will establish a collaborative ecosystem of journalists around the world to uncover the harmful and illegal practices of the fishing and extractive industries, and systemic threats to marine biodiversity and coastal communities. The Pulitzer Center will cover a reporter’s salary and provide additional support for the media outlet that employs the journalist. Government of Canada — Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program provides funding to postdoctoral applicants, both nationally and internationally, who will positively contribute to Canada’s economic, social, and research-based growth. A total of 70 fellowships are awarded annually. Foreign citizens who are not permanent residents of Canada may only apply if they hold their fellowship at a Canadian institution. Applicants seek endorsement from a host institution to apply, prepare, and submit an application (Note: institutions may have internal deadlines).
