The Smithsonian launches two new in-residence fellowship programs: the Smithsonian Climate Change Fellowship and the Smithsonian Environmental Justice Fellowship. Each program will support a cohort of 2-5 fellows who will receive a stipend to conduct independent research that utilizes Smithsonian resources (e.g., data, facilities, expertise). Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the time the fellowship begins and propose to conduct research in residence for a period of no less than 12 months and no more than 24 months. The International Foundation makes grants in subject areas that include agriculture, water and sanitation, environment, and several others. Grants are to nonprofit tax-exempt charitable organizations in the USA. Most grant recipients are small and medium NGOs in the USA engaged in international development assistance. International Organization for Migration — COP29 Youth Delegates on Climate Migration
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) invites young people to express their interest in joining the IOM COP29 Youth Delegates on Climate Migration. The initiative will select and fully fund 20 youth delegates from different regions to participate in COP29, and in a series of online activities, such as webinars and consultations, before the Conference. To be eligible to apply, the applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old and have a demonstrated interest and experience in migration and climate change issues. Faith For Our Planet — Youth Climate Fellowship
Faith For Our Planet, in collaboration with Duke University, launches a program for climate-conscious youth leaders from around the world. The program targets religious leaders, climate activists, and early-career professionals in faith-based organizations who wish to mobilize faith communities to combat climate change. Participants will have the opportunity to expand their networks and develop their skills to deliver an impactful faith-based climate action project. Ramsar Convention – Wetland Conservation Awards 2024
The Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention calls for nominations for the 9th edition of the Ramsar Wetland Conservation Awards. The awards recognize and honor the contributions of individuals, organizations, and governments around the world in promoting the conservation and wise use of wetlands. Award recipients will each receive the Evian Special Prize of US$10 thousand provided by Danone. Individuals and organizations of any nation or region can be nominated. Smithsonian Institution — Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biodiversity Genomics
The Smithsonian Institution seeks collaborative research proposals in Biodiversity Genomics, involving comparative genomic approaches such as phylogenomics, population genomics, metagenomics or transcriptomics, and bioinformatics analysis. The stipend for postdoctoral and senior fellows is US$55 thousand per year. Applicants must propose to conduct research in residence for a period of 12 to 24 months. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Climate Finance for Development Accelerator (CFDA) funds a range of climate change mitigation and adaptation activities focused on scaling up the transition to an equitable and resilient net-zero economy. The Accelerator is a buy-in mechanism that helps USAID missions, bureaus, and independent offices develop and manage climate finance-related partnerships, strengthen enabling environments, and advance learning. Quadrature Climate Foundation — Climate Change AI
Quadrature Climate Foundation, Google DeepMind, and Global Methane Hub announce funding for projects at the intersection of AI and climate change. The aim is to create Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions that can help support climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as climate science, across many different areas, for example, energy, agriculture, forestry, climate modeling, and disaster response.
