The Society of Chemical Industry awards travel bursaries to young PhD students. There are various schemes available, some related to agriculture and life sciences. Applicants will have preference if they wish to travel outside their country of residence, especially if they wish to work in a laboratory abroad. Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation — Scholarships 2019-2020
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2019-2020 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. Pulitzer Center — Data Journalism and Property Rights Grants
The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting provides travel grants to cover hard costs associated with upcoming travel for an international reporting project. The Pulitzer Center seeks applications for data-driven journalism projects related to land rights and property rights. Projects may focus on issues related to indigenous land rights due to the exploration of natural resources, among many other themes. Most awards fall in the range of US$5-15 thousand. Center for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries — Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research
The NAM S&T Centre invites applications from scientists from the developing countries for the Joint NAM S&T Centre – ZMT Bremen (Germany) Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research. Under this scheme, five selected scientists will work with senior researchers and faculty members in fields related to Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, and Tropical Coastal Marine Systems; and undertaking short-term joint research projects for a period of up to 3 months. International Marine Conservation Congress — Diversity Travel Grants
The International Marine Conservation Congress and Society for Conservation Biology Marine Section offer Diversity Travel Grants for delegates from developing countries (as defined by the World Bank). The Diversity Travel Grants will help offset some of the costs for qualifying delegates to present at the SCB Marine Section’s 29th International Congress for Conservation Biology (IMCC 2019) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 21-25 July 2019. International Institute of Education — Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund
The Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund provides up to US$5 thousand to indigenous individuals to attend global biocultural exchanges or meetings which impact the applicant’s home territory or region. Applicants must be indigenous or members of a local indigenous community. Additional preference will be given to women and youth. The fund is especially for, but not limited to, indigenous individuals in the following regions: African Rift Valley, Central Asia & Turkey, Southwest U.S. & Northern Mexico, Northern Australia, and Melanesia. ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences — Mobility Grants with South Asia and Iran 2019
Mobility grants encourage early-career Swiss researchers who seek the possibility to gain experience in international research and development projects in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. Applicants from South Asia or Iran who wish to visit Switzerland for research purposes need to be scientists with a government accredited university or public research institute. For applicants from South Asia or Iran the fund may cover living allowances, public transport within Switzerland and a contribution towards research and local conference costs (up to CHF 2,500 per month during maximum 3 months). Funds will be disburses to the Swiss sending and/or host institute only, therefore international applicants should seek a partnership with ZHAW. The SWS Wetland Ambassadors Program is a student research program that provides graduate students with the opportunity to travel to another country and conduct wetland research. A grant of up to US$5 thousand will be awarded by SWS, while hosting institutions may provide for lab costs, meal plans, or room and board during the internship. The applicant must currently be enrolled in a M.S. or Ph.D. program related to wetland science (e.g. biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, etc.). University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland — MENA Young Scientists Mobility Grants
The “young scientists’ mobility grant” aims to develop new research partnerships and collaborations between Switzerland and MENA countries. Priority countries under this call are: Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates. Mobility grants can be awarded to young scientists who hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree (no PhD) and have less than 6 years of professional research experience. The call is open for activities and research visits in all scientific disciplines and fields of research. The applicant’s mobility visit should have a minimum duration of 4 weeks and with a maximum of CHF5 thousand per grant. (Note: The application form must be completed by the Swiss main applicant).
