Journalists are encouraged to examine the key sources of air pollution in Nairobi and its impacts on the local environment, economy and health, among other topics. U.S. Department of State — Combating Wildlife Trafficking through Outreach and Awareness
The U.S. Government announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that counter trafficking of endangered and protected species for use in traditional medicine globally. The U.S. Government will mobilize resources, and strengthen operational capacity to combat nature crimes, including wildlife and timber trafficking. The program goal is to engage civil society and/or local NGOs in the prevention of trafficking of endangered and protected species. Funding ranges from US$500 thousand to US$1 million. Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop on Natural Resource Governance
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) hosts a media workshop with the aim to improve journalists’ knowledge and reporting skills to tell impactful and in-depth stories about natural resources governance in the Mekong region. The three-day workshop will be held in English in early July, at a venue in Thailand. Following the training, participants will be invited to pitch story ideas. EJN will award 16 grants of US$1,500 each to journalists to produce their proposed stories. The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) invites women to apply for a theoretical and hands-on training on the use of earth observation (EO) and geospatial information technology (GIT). The four-day course provides young and early-career women with theoretical and practical knowledge to use EO data and GIT, with real-world examples from the HKH region. The Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders’ training program helps develop early-career conservation professionals through a combination of skills training, networking opportunities, and the completion of a global wildlife conservation initiative.
