The JK VISIONARIES award recognizes organizations that are working to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. The award seeks sustainable solutions that solve people’s problems with new tools, methods, or techniques (possibly within one or more thematic areas of the Terra Viva Grant Directory) with the potential to be replicated in other countries. Young Sustainable Impact Southeast Asia — Innovation Program 2020
Young Sustainable Impact (YSI) Southeast Asia invites applications for a fully funded Incubation Program which will provide participants with the frameworks, mentorship and resources to start a company. Teams or individually are invited to create lasting solutions to Southeast Asia’s pressing problems in the themes of “Energy Transitions”, “Future of Food & Agriculture”, and “Circular Economy.” Candidates have to be 18-35 years old. Participants receive a fully funded trip to Singapore to participate in a 9-day workshop. Up to US$5 thousand funding is available to promising startups. PNG-Australia Partnership — Off-Grid Electrification Program Papua New Guinea
The PNG-Australia Off-Grid Electrification Program (Pawarim Komuniti) supports access to clean energy in rural and remote communities in Papua New Guinea. The Program will support local off-grid energy solutions such as solar home systems, and others, to provide rural households, community service facilities and businesses with affordable access to clean energy. Selected organisations will receive funding in the amount of between PGK250 thousand and PGK3 million. Pawarim Komuniti will accept proposals from legally registered national or international private companies and NGOs eligible to work in Papua New Guinea. Nigeria Energy Forum — Africa Energy Innovation Competition 2020
NEF invites applications for the 5th Africa Energy Ideas Competition which aims to accelerate the development of early-stage energy firms across Africa. The competition is open to early-stage energy entrepreneurs from Africa to collaborate with local research institutions or industries. Young professionals between the ages of 18 and 35 years from Africa are invited to participate and nominate a relevant local research institution or organization. The Rockefeller Foundation invites organizations across the globe to develop and submit their vision of a regenerative and nourishing food system. Project ideas must tackle global problems, including overpopulation, climate change, or soil, air and water pollution. Selected visionaries will receive US$200 thousand in project funding to help implement their ideas and participate in an accelerator during which they will have access to media and storytelling training. The Office of Forestry and Biodiversity in USAID’s Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment seeks transformational solutions to cross-sectoral development challenges in biodiverse landscapes. Sectors that may comprise HEARTH concepts are: biodiversity conservation, health, food security (agriculture and nutrition), governance, economic development and livelihoods, water supply and sanitation, education, modern energy solutions, forest management and restoration, and climate resilience. Eligible priority countries include Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and South America Regional; Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Madagascar, Tanzania, and Central Africa Regional; Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Vietnam and the Regional Development Mission for Asia. UNESCO — World Heritage Volunteers 2020
The UNESCO World Heritage Centre invites applications for the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) Campaign 2020. The aim of the call is to encourage young people to undertake concrete actions and to play an active role in the protection, preservation and promotion of World Heritage sites. Projects should be organised in immediate connection to a property inscribed on the World Heritage List or a site inscribed on a Tentative List. Both public or private organisations or institutions from any country are eligible to apply. The European Commission invites applications for the Ocean-Monitoring call to support the development of ocean energy.
