Center for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries — Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research
The NAM S&T Centre invites applications from scientists from the developing countries for the Joint NAM S&T Centre – ZMT Bremen (Germany) Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research. Under this scheme, five selected scientists will work with senior researchers and faculty members in fields related to Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, and Tropical Coastal Marine Systems; and undertaking short-term joint research projects for a period of up to 3 months. Columbus Zoo and Aquarium — Conservation Grants 2019
The Columbus Zoo makes conservation grants for research, local community involvement, capacity building, environmental education, and behavior change leading to improved conservation of wildlife and habitat. Grant requests may range from US$1 thousand to US$25 thousand, but grants are limited to US$5 thousand for first-time applicants. First-time applicants must submit a pre-proposal. National Geographic Society — Alpine Climate Change
The National Geographic Society seeks proposals for its program “Extreme Environments: Alpine Climate Change”. Through this RFP, NatGeo seeks to advance understanding of environmental and societal changes measured in high alpine regions. Projects may be focused around measuring the changing high-elevation environmental conditions, boosting the resilience of vulnerable communities, or climate change storytelling. Preference will be given to to projects led by researchers, conservationists, or storytellers from the greater Hindu-Kush Himalaya mountain system; the Peruvian, Chilean, and Argentinian Andes; and the mountainous regions of British Columbia. Royal Geographic Society — Land Rover Bursary
The Land Rover Bursary supports researcher and explorer teams by providing funding of up to £30 thousand and the loan of a vehicle. The bursary is intended to be used for a journey with a geographical purpose where the capabilities of a Land Rover are indispensable. The application deadline is 30 November 2019. The Land Rover Bursary will not be awarded for 2020 and 2021. Know more
Minnesota Zoo — Ulysses S. Seal Conservation Grant Program
The Minnesota Zoo (USA) sponsors the Ulysses S. Seal Conservation Grant Program to award small grants to projects promoting the conservation of wildlife. Funding priority is given to field-based conservation, but worthy zoo-based projects are considered. Since its inception in 2002, the fund has awarded over US$460 thousand to more than 200 projects in 50 countries. Interested applicants need to work with a Minnesota Zoo staff member to champion the project. There is no application deadline. Info
United States Government — ASEAN Science Prize for Women
The 2019 ASEAN-U.S. Science Prize for Women seeks to identify and recognize ASEAN-based, early to mid-career women who are using applied sciences in the theme of the “Circular Economy”. The top two finalists will be invited to compete in a pitch competition during an ASEAN Ministerial event in Singapore in October 2019. The overall winner will receive $20 thousand. John Ball Zoological Society — Wildlife Conservation 2019
The John Ball Zoological Society makes grants to conserve wild animals and their habitats; to improve the management of captive animals; and to develop education programs related to these objectives. Most funded projects are in developing countries. The principal investigator can be of any nationality and must be associated with a recognized institution (accredited zoo, academic institution, conservation or non-profit organization). Unleash — Innovation Lab 2019
Unleash invites young experts from all around the world to participate in the 2019 Innovation Lab in Shenzhen (Nov 2019) to create real, scalable solutions towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Teams will explore real-life challenges within the SDG themes, before defining specific problems and coming up with solutions. The top teams will present their solutions to investors and experts. European Commission — Solving Conflicts over Natural Resources in Kenya
The European Commission to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in Kenya in addressing the conflicts revolving around land tenure and access to natural resource. The following activities will be supported under this call: capacity building, land mediation initiatives involving local communities, projects of women’s and youth organisation, research, awareness raising and advocacy activities.
