The European Union intends to boost innovation in agriculture and food systems transformation of partner countries with a view to be more resilient to the effects of climate change. The European Commission calls for applied research projects to address climate change adaptation and resilience of family farming in Angola. The priority of this call is to find options for the improvement of family farming, test them, and assess their contribution to resilience. Grant funding ranges from €800 thousand to €1 million. Eligibility extends to universities, agriculture research institutions, and international organizations. Applicants must have proven experience in conducting operational research projects in developing countries in the following areas: agriculture, livestock, climate change/environment, community development, agroforestry and food security. The call focuses on sustainable urbanisation and the transition to sustainable energy at the local level. Eligibility extends to research consortia composed of researchers based in The Netherlands and in China. The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) for small grants (up to US$30 thousand) in support of biodiversity conservation in the Mediterranean Basin. Funding will be provided in support of sustainable management of water catchments/freshwater biodiversity and cultural landscapes in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Biodiversity Information for Development: Asia
The Biodiversity Information for Development program aims to enhance capacity for effective mobilization and use of biodiversity data in support of decision- and policymaking for sustainable development in Asia. The program supports projects that strengthen the capacity of institutions to manage and mobilize biodiversity data, mobilize primary data on Asian biodiversity, and increase open data on Asian biodiversity to fill taxonomic and geographic gaps. Applicants may request a maximum of €20 thousand for projects implemented over a maximum period of 18 months. Applicants must be legal entities such as government agencies, natural history museums, research institutes, universities, or NGOs located in Southeast Asia, South Asia or Northeast Asia. French Ministry of Research and Education — Supporting International Young Scientists in Marine Sciences
LabexMER is a program of France’s Ministry of Research and Education to address key questions about the global ocean, the deep ocean, and the coastal ocean. LabexMER offers four two-year postdoctoral fellowships for international young scientists to propose research projects in marine sciences to be carried out in one or several LabexMER laboratories in western France. Fellows will receive an annual salary of €37 thousand and support to cover travel expenses, equipment and supplies (€5 thousand per year). The deadline for applications is 30 April 2021. LEAP-RE — Joint Europe-Africa Call on Renewable Energy
The Long-term Europe-Africa Partnership on Renewable Energy (LEAP-RE) program aims to increase the use of renewable energy via research, demonstration, and technology transfer projects in both continents. LEAP-RE funds joint basic research, applied research and experimental development projects with a duration of 12-36 months. The call for proposals is aimed at actors in the renewable energy value chain (including universities, research institutes, companies, private sector, NGOs and public authorities). MarTERA provides funding to collaborative research and innovation projects.
