Innovative Methods and Metrics for Agriculture and Nutrition Actions (IMMANA) is a research initiative with the aim to stimulate the development of innovative methodological approaches in agriculture and food systems for improved health and nutrition. IMMANA awards post-doctoral fellowships to emerging leaders who are applying and/or validating new methodological approaches in ongoing research programs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The fellowship includes a research stipend, a travel allowance, and an honorarium for mentors. Fellows conduct their research in Africa or Asia under the joint supervision of two mentors. Horticulture Innovation Lab — Horticulture Research Projects Central America
The Horticulture Innovation Lab seeks technical applications from local organizations to research appropriate technologies for climate smart agriculture for small-sized farms in Honduras and Guatemala. The selected research projects will be funded at US$250 thousand up to US$750 thousand. The Horticulture Innovation Lab seeks research applications led by local organizations that are relevant to smallholder farmers and disadvantaged populations. KU Leuven — Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Programme
KU Leuven is the largest university in Flanders, Belgium. As one part of its cooperation to advance international development, KU Leuven offers Global Minds Scholarships to candidates from developing countries. Global Minds is a ‘sandwich’ system, which means that 50% of the research takes place at KU Leuven and 50% at the home institution of the scholar. The scholarships have a duration of 48 months. European Commission — Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships for Early-Career Researchers
The European Commission, through the Euraxess initiative, offers the Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships to support early-career researchers from Africa, Asia and Latin America. ZUKOnnect aims to extend research networks and environments through on-campus research stays at thirteen departments of the University of Konstanz. Subject areas include ecology, limnology, ecotoxicology, botany, amongst many others. The fellowship offers a stipend of €1,200/month for doctoral students and €2,000/month for postdoctoral researchers, as well as travel expenses and access to resources and events. British Ecological Society — Grants for Ecologists in Africa 2023
The British Ecological Society (BES) makes grants for ecologists in Africa to carry out innovative ecological research. Applicants must be scientists and citizens of a country in Africa or its associated islands; have at least an MSc or equivalent degree; be working for a university or research institution in Africa that provides basic research facilities; and carry out the research in a country in Africa or its associated islands. The maximum value of a grant is £8 thousand for research. An additional sum up to £2 thousand may be requested to fund travel to help grantees develop connections with other ecologists outside their usual peer groups. The Government of India and the European Union seek applications for collaborative research & innovation projects carried out by consortia of organizations working together on research & innovation in areas of AI, electric energy storage solutions; zero emission vehicles; and biofuels. India Department of Science and Technology — Science Collaboration, India with ASEAN
The ASEAN-India Science and Technology Development Fund supports projects of 2-3 years between research institutions in India and collaborating institutions in the ASEAN countries. Areas of focus include environmental management, climate change adaptation and mitigation, agricultural technologies, alternative energy, biodiversity, and several others. The funds support mobility of researchers from India to partnering ASEAN institutions and vice versa, as well as some supplementary expenditures. Applications must be prepared jointly by the Indian and ASEAN partner scientists, and must be submitted to India’s DST and the ASEAN Secretariat simultaneously. CRDF Global — Disrupting the Rise of Disinformation in Biosecurity
CRDF Global announces a grant opportunity to support counter-disinformation initiatives that respond to active influence campaigns that undermine established norms in biosecurity. Grants are up to US$10 thousand to conduct research and develop solutions to discredit efforts by state actors to subvert international biological science. The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites applications for small grants to promote biodiversity conservation in the Mountains of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan). Small grants are a maximum of US$20 thousand. Project proposals should be built on biodiversity conservation as a fundamental component.
