U.S. Agency for International Development — Nutrition Innovations in Complex Environments

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks organizations to co-create, co-design, co-invest, and collaborate on research and development innovations to prevent and treat nutrition vulnerabilities in complex environments. Areas of interest include innovations to maximize impact across sectors, including health, agriculture and humanitarian assistance. Barcelona Zoo Foundation — Grants for Research and Conservation Projects

The Barcelona Zoo Foundation provides grants and financial aid to research and conservation projects focussing on animal wellbeing and knowledge of species in their environment; applied conservation techniques, both in situ and ex situ, at a global level; and Mediterranean biodiversity. Eligibility extends to individuals and non-profit organizations. Projects may be submitted in English, Spanish, or Catalan. U.S. Department of State — Reducing Marine Litter

The U.S. Department of State seeks proposals for projects that use environmentally sustainable waste management and/or reduce the amount of abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing gear. Four grants of up to US$246,875 each will be awarded for work that will support efforts that help prevent marine litter from entering the ocean. Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership — Abe Fellowships 2018

The Abe Fellowship encourages international research in the social sciences and related disciplines on topics of pressing global concern — including climate change, sustainable urbanization, environmental degradation, and other cross-cutting issues that advance global problem solving from a transnational perspective. The fellowship program is open to citizens of Japan and the USA, as well as to nationals of other countries who can demonstrate serious long-term affiliations with research communities in Japan or the USA. Lincoln Institute of Land Policy — Fellowships on Land Policy and Urban Development in Latin America

The Program on Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy invites applications for its 2018 thesis fellowships. Fellowships will be awarded in the amounts of US$5 thousand for master’s theses, and US$10 thousand for doctoral theses, to students at universities in Latin America and North America who are in the mid to final stages of their thesis work. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Conservation in the Eastern Afromontane Biodiversity Hotspot

The CEPF seeks letters of inquiry for small grants (less than US$50 thousand) to conserve biodiversity in the Eastern Afromontane Hotspot. The conservation priorities are stated in the announcement for Strategic Directions 1, 2, and 3 in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs, community groups, universities, private enterprises, and other applicants from civil society. Government enterprises and institutions may be eligible if they can meet special criteria. All applicants are encouraged to discuss proposal ideas prior to submitting. World Academy of Sciences — Solar Radiation Management

The TWAS-SRMGI DECIMALS fund has been set up to provide grants to small research teams in developing countries, allowing them to analyze the impacts that SRM might have in their regions. The programme provides support for research projects in solar radiation management, climate change, agriculture, natural disasters, and climate impact analysis. A research grant of up to US$ 70 thousand will be provided for up to two years. Eligibility extends to scientists with PhD degree and significant research experience. United States Government — Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Big Cats Species

The United States Department of State seeks to reduce wildlife trafficking and environmental crimes. Therefore, applications are invited from qualified non-governmental organizations (NGOs), educational institutions, and other non-profit qualified organizations for a grant to implement a program to “Combat Trafficking in High Value Wildlife Products from Big Cats”. For the purposes of this NOFO, “big cats” include the following species and all of their subspecies: cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), jaguar (Panthera onca), leopard (Panthera pardus), lion (Panthera leo), puma (Puma concolor), snow leopard (Panthera uncia), and tiger (Panthera tigris). UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Biotechnology and Bioenergy in the Developing World

BBSRC seeks collaborative research projects addressing challenges relating to industrial biotechnology and bioenergy in the developing world. Projects my focus on the themes of agriculture, sustainable energy or clean water. Applicants can request a maximum of £2 million per project for up to three years. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Future Leader Fellowship

The UKRI Future Leader Fellowship scheme supports early-career researchers and innovators from the UK and internationally. The support offered will be long-term (up to 7 years) and flexible (all fields of research), providing salary and justified research, staff and training costs (no budget limits).
