The TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Program invites postdoctoral researchers in Sub-Saharan Africa to make cooperation visits to institutes in Germany. The visits are limited to three months, with the aim of promoting longer-term collaboration. The German Research Foundation will cover travel expenses and provide subsistence costs for the stay in Germany. Preference is given to young PhD-level scientists, particularly women. Hawk Migration Association of North America — Research Award
The Hawk Migration Association of North America Research Award supports field studies relating to raptor migration ecology and behavior, population monitoring, and conservation. Up to two proposals with a total value of US$1 thousand each will be funded per year. Grants can be used for research targeted to understanding the connectivity among breeding, migrating, and non-breeding distributions of raptor species or monitoring activities. Leakey Foundation — Field School Scholarship
The Joan Cogswell Donner Field School Scholarship provides up to US$2 thousand towards field school tuition for students to support training in fieldwork related to human origins research. Applications for this scholarship have to be submitted by the field school director, not the scholarship recipient. Recipients must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a country where there are limited resources for academic development. The scholarship is awarded year-round. Harvard University — Biodiversity Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Edward O. Wilson Biodiversity Postdoctoral Fellowship supports postdoctoral researchers at the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University to pursue the discovery and formal taxonomic description of Earth’s animal species. The fellowship program is open to both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens. A Ph.D. with relevant research experience in taxonomy and/or systematics is required. Neotropical Birding and Conservation — Conservation and Research in Latin America and the Caribbean
The Neotropical Birding and Conservation (formerly Neotropical Bird Club) offers small and medium-sized research grants for conservation work, or for research that may be of conservation benefit. Awards of US$1,500 and US$3,000 are for projects carried out by nationals and/or residents of countries in the Neotropics (i.e. the Caribbean, Central America, and South America). Weeden Foundation — Protecting Biodiversity in Chile and Russia
The Weeden Foundation makes grants for biodiversity conservation in forest ecosystems, riparian corridors, and riverine and aquatic environments of ecological importance. Weeden’s international priorities are the Patagonia region of Chile and the Altai Republic of Russia. The average grant size is between US$15 and US$20 thousand. The Royal Society — Early Career Researcher Competition
The Biology Letters Early Career Researcher (ECR) Competition recognizes outstanding research papers authored by ECRs. Eligible participants are individuals who have completed a postgraduate degree within the last six years. The competition awards £1,000 to the overall winner and £500 each to two runners-up. UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science — Research Support
The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) invites innovative research proposals. The program seeks to advance rain enhancement science and technology, focusing on five key areas: enhanced seeding materials, rain enhancement systems, autonomous aerial systems, localized climate intervention, and advanced models, software, and data. Eligible applicants include domestic and international public or private, non-profit or for-profit organizations, and individuals. Proposals are evaluated based on scientific merit, project plan, team qualifications, resource availability, and capacity building. West African Research Association — Residency Fellowship
The West African Research Association, (WARA) offers Residencies for WARA member institutions to host a West African Scholar on their campus. Each residency will last 4-8 weeks. WARA will pay the round-trip travel costs of the selected scholar as well as a stipend of US$3500 to help cover meals and local transportation costs. African Bird Club — Conservation and Expedition Awards
The ABC Conservation Awards (up to £3 thousand) support small and medium-sized bird conservation projects in Africa. Applicants should normally be resident in Africa. The ABC Expedition Awards (up to £5 thousand) take place within continental Africa or adjacent islands, with a strong base in conservation and birds. Applications are reviewed multiple times a year, with deadlines at the end of February, June, and October. Link
