Chivas Venture — Funding for Social Entrepreneurs

Chivas Venture provides start-ups and social entrepreneurs with project funding. Past projects include projects in the thematic areas of plastic waste, agriculture, and other environmental or humanitarian themes. 20 Finalists will participate in a 3-day Accelerator Program in London and the winners share a total of US$1 million in funding. Government of India and Sri Lanka — Indo-Sri Lanka Joint Research Programme

The Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Government of India invite proposals for joint research projects in the following scientific areas (relevant to TVG): Food Technology; Plant based medicines; Renewable Energy; Waste Management. International Center for Journalists — Workshop for Latin American Journalists

The Douglas Tweedale Memorial Fellowship will be awarded to two Latin American journalists who seek to improve their environmental reporting skills. The two-week professional program will take place in Lima (Peru). Participants will have appointments with area investigative journalists, environmental experts, and short embeds with media outlets specializing in environmental coverage. UN-Habitat — Waste to Wealth

UN-Habitat calls for innovative solutions and best practices that transform waste to wealth. Applicants may submit technologies, solutions, ideas, or approaches that change the way we think about, use and treat waste (solid, liquid, domestic, industrial and commercial). The best 20 submissions will be published and showcased as part of World Habitat Day. Applications are open to everyone who is passionate about solving the challenges of waste management. Wilson Center — Addressing Environmental Challenges in the Americas

The Wilson Center Latin America Fellowship Program 2019/2020 seeks applications to conduct research about and propose concrete solutions to the range of environmental threats faced by countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The residential fellowship will take place at the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. (USA). Fellows are provided with a monthly stipend for a stay of 4-6 months. Applicants must be citizens of a Latin American or Caribbean country and have an undergraduate or graduate degree and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. UNESCO — Plastic Initiative Award & Photo Contest

UNESCO Bangkok invites schools, universities and other institutions to apply for the Plastic Initiative Award. Educational institutions from the Asia-Pacific region with established projects related to reuse/reduce/recycle, plastic waste management and innovations to solve the plastic pollution issues are eligible. The winner will receive a trophy and publicity. Furthermore, the winner will be invited to the Donor/Fundraising event (September 2019) at the National Science Museum of Thailand to give a presentation. U.S. Embassy Vietnam — YSEALI Micro-Grants Program

The U.S. Embassy Hanoi invites proposals for the 2019 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Micro-Grant Program. The program offers grants of up to US$ 1,000 to young individuals (aged 18-35 years) and non-profit groups in Vietnam. Projects in the following themes (relevant to the Terra Viva Grants Directory) will be accepted: environmental protection/climate change; disaster preparedness; food security. United Nations Development Programme — Green and Sustainable Cities in Moldova

The UNDP-GEF Project “Moldova Sustainable Green Cities” launches a call for proposals within the Fast Track Challenge Program. The program provides financial support of up to US$8 thousand to innovative projects contributing to low carbon green city development. The thematic areas covered by this program include waste management, and energy efficiency, among others. Applicants must have a for-profit entity registered in the Republic of Moldova. Rapunzel Naturkost and IFOAM — One World Award

Natural health food producer Rapunzel Naturkost and IFOAM – Organics International, the international umbrella organization for organic agriculture, invite nominations for the ‘ONE WORLD AWARD 2020’ (OWA). The award recognizes innovative ideas, projects and people in three areas of sustainability, including conservation of nature and biodiversity, organic farming, contributions to stop climate change (energy conservation or use of renewable energy), and waste management. The winner will receive €45 thousand in prize money. Nominations can be submitted either by individuals or by organizations. Nominations will be accepted until 30 September 2019. Details 

Innovate UK — Newton-Ungku Omar Fund Grand Challenge

Innovate UK and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) seeks applications for the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund. The challenge invites innovative products, processes and services with focus on waste management or mobility. Eligibility extends to UK based businesses with at least one partner organisation, business, or academic institution located in Malaysia. UK partners can request up to £30 thousand, Malaysian partners up to RM165 thousand. The application deadline is 16 October 2019. Link
