The EJ4Climate Grant Program supports environmental justice and climate resilience for underserved, vulnerable communities, and Indigenous communities across North America (including Mexico). Possible projects under the grant program could include addressing extreme weather impacts, transitioning to clean energy and/or transportation systems, or utilizing traditional ecological knowledge to address climate change impacts. AXA Research Fund — Research on Risk Management, Academic Chairs 2025
The AXA Research Fund supports research to help understand risk management and prevention, including risks related to natural disasters and climate change. Applications can be submitted by pre-registered research institutions in EU member states and collaborating countries — including a selection of developing and emerging countries in the Asia-Pacific region; Africa and the Middle East; and Latin America. Munich Re Foundation — RISK Award “Children and Youths”
The RISK Award seeks operational field projects in risk reduction and disaster management. The prize will provide financial support of €100 thousand to projects dedicated to increasing people’s resilience to risks and disasters, especially in developing countries. The submitted projects may emphasize the importance of children and young people as agents of change. Wilson Center — International Fellowship Program
The Woodrow Wilson Center offers a 9-month residential fellowship to scholars, practitioners, journalists, and public intellectuals. Fellows conduct research in their areas of interest while interacting with policymakers in Washington and Wilson Center staff and other scholars in residence. The Center accepts proposals that address key challenges confronting the United States and the world. The Center offers a stipend of US$90 thousand. The MacArthur Foundation accepts applications for the 100&Change Competition to fund a proposal that promises real and measurable progress in solving a critical problem of the time. Applicants must strive toward transformative change in areas of profound concern, including the existential threats of climate change. The MacArthur Foundation will provide US$ 100 million in funding to a single proposal. The challenge is open to organizations and collaborations working in any field, anywhere in the world. U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Hurricane Response Marine Debris Removal
The U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) supports projects to assess, remove, and dispose of marine debris in and around coastal communities impacted by hurricanes and other episodic storm events. Eligible projects will reduce marine debris from coastal habitats and nearshore waters of coastal counties in Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and South Carolina impacted by the 2022 hurricanes Fiona, Ian, Nicole, and Typhoon Merbok. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, government agencies, for-profit organizations, and educational institutions. The Fund will award approximately US$6 million in grants. The annual St Andrews Prize for the Environment recognizes significant contributions to environmental conservation in the developing world. The subject areas include human-animal conflicts; water and biodiversity; sanitation; air quality; solar power; food supply; waste and recycling; environmental justice; and others. Applications are invited from individuals, multi-disciplinary teams, and community groups. Research projects will not be considered. The Prize consists of an award of US$100 thousand and a medal. World Bank — PhD Scholarship for Research in Development
The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program (RSMFP) provides support to PhD candidates from developing countries to conduct PhD research on a development topic in a World Bank member country other than the Fellow’s home country. The funding is for 6-10 months in any field of applied research that addresses poverty alleviation. The fellowship offers compensation, totaling $42,750 per fellow.
