United Nations — World Oceans Day Photo Competition 2022

The World Oceans Day aims to raise global awareness of the current challenges faced by the oceans and showcase possible solutions. The United Nations General Assembly seeks submissions to the World Oceans Day Photo Competition to share the beauty and importance of the oceans through photographs. The photo competition has seven thematic categories open for photographic submissions from all around the world. Climate Tracker — Sustainability Solutions Journalism Fellowship

Climate Tracker offers a 6-month paid media mentorship-fellowship focused on producing stories about local sustainable solutions. Fellows will receive training and mentoring to produce one story about nature-based solutions, climate change, regenerative agriculture, biodiversity conservation, or energy transition every month for 6 months. Furthermore, Fellows receive US$165 per month stipend during the duration of the fellowship. The deadline to apply is 07 January 2022. Link to Climate Tracker

Earth Journalism Network — Indigenous Environmental Journalism Story Grants 2022

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks applications from Indigenous journalists to support the production of in-depth stories that will call attention to climate justice, biodiversity, sustainable ecosystems, Indigenous leadership. EJN welcomes any story ideas that will explore how environmental and climate change issues are linked to the rights and well-being of Indigenous peoples and communities. EJN expects to award 20 grants in total: 10 grants with an average budget of US$1,450, and 10 grants with an average budget of US$1,250. Applicants must self-identify as Indigenous and will be asked to provide details on their Indigenous affiliations in the application. Applicants can be from any country in the world. Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community — Media Awards

The Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) announces the 2022 SADC Media Awards competition in the four categories: Photo, Print, Television and Radio Journalism. The themes of the entries to be submitted for the competition must be on issues and activities promoting Regional Integration in the SADC region, i.e. development, water, culture, agriculture, etc. The first prize winner in each category receives US$2,500 and the runner-up receives US$1000. The Media Awards are open to journalists from the SADC Member States. Completed forms must be submitted by 28 February 2022. SADC Media Awards

University of California at Berkeley — Food and Farming Journalism Fellowship

The UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism offers ten US$10 thousand postgraduate Food and Farming Journalism Fellowships. The fellowship is aimed at early and mid-career journalists who cover print and audio stories under the rubric of food systems: agricultural policy, food science, rural and urban farming, agriculture and the environment, food and climate change, etc. Preference is given to U.S. focused stories, but UC Berkeley will also consider international stories with a strong U.S. angle or connection. Truepic — Social Impact Grant 2022

Truepic is the leading photo and video verification platform. Truepic Vision helps organizations use authenticated images and videos to achieve their goals and aid their projects. Truepic announces the request for applications for the social impact grant program 2022. Truepic seeks partners that have a real understanding of how to use imagery to accelerate a mission and positively impact their community or the world. Selected organizations receive a minimum of one year of pro-bono development, use, support, and training of Truepic Vision’s premium platform where they will be able to request and crowdsource authenticated images and videos from any smartphone in the world. Earth Journalism Network — Story Grants on Green Recovery

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to support the production of in-depth or investigative stories that will highlight progress toward a post-pandemic “green recovery”. EJN welcomes stories that engage audiences to better understand the commitments (or lack thereof) from governments, administrations, corporations and other authorities to progress towards a green, sustainable future. EJN expects to award 10 grants with an average grant of £1,100. Applications are open to journalists and other expert media practitioners with experience in investigative reporting and covering environment and/or issues related to climate. United Nations — Human Rights to Water and Sanitation

The OHCHR Human Rights Youth Challenge invites youth aged between 16 – 24 to produce and submit a video on: “the human rights to water and sanitation of peoples living close to nature”. Videos and digital content may focus on, but not limited to, indigenous peoples, peasants, farmers, fisherfolks, hunters and gatherers, livestock rearers, and traders. The winner will be invited to speak at a side-event of the UN Human Rights Council in September 2022. The deadline for submission is 15 February 2022. 5th Human Rights Youth Challenge

International Fact-Checking Network — Climate Misinformation Grant

The International Fact-Checking Network welcomes applications to their Climate Misinformation Grant program. The initiative supports organizations working to combat misinformation to actor, behavioral, and content trends that are unique to climate change. Climate Misinformation Grant amounts will range up to US$100 thousand. Organizations around the world are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is 27 November 2021. United Nations — World Wildlife Day Film Showcase

The United Nations World Wildlife Day organizes an international film showcase along the theme of “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”. Organizers seek films that explore the threats to wild fauna and flora, their central importance for their habitats and ecosystems and for the communities who live near them, and initiatives to conserve them.
