MDPI — Plants Awards 2024

MDPI is a publisher of peer-reviewed, open access journals. The publisher makes several awards in the category “Plants.” MDPI currently invites nominations for the Plants Best Paper Award, the best Plant PhD Thesis Award, and Plant Travel Award. Winner will receive CHF500 in prize money. The deadlines for nominations are 31 March 2024 for the Plants Best Paper Award, 31 January 2024 for the Plant PhD Thesis Award, and 31 October 2023 for the Plant Travel Award. Click here

Leakey Foundation — Research on Primates

The Leakey Foundation funds research related to human origins. This includes research on primate biology, ecology, and behavior. The majority of research grants awarded to doctoral students range from US$3 thousand to US$20 thousand. Larger projects by senior scientists and post-doctoral students may be funded up to US$30 thousand. There are no citizenship restrictions. Garden Club of America — Awards in Tropical Botany and Horticulture

The Garden Club of America (GCA) offers several grants, prizes, and fellowships for students enrolled at universities in the USA, including some awards that have a tropical focus. The GCA Awards in Tropical Botany are open to PhD candidates (application deadline is 15 January). The Anne Chatham Fellowship in Medicinal Botany is open to PhD students and recent PhD graduates (deadline is 31 January). The Lou McCandless Marks Scholarship in Tropical Horticulture is restricted to U.S. citizens who are graduate students or advanced undergraduate students (deadline is 01 February). MDPI — Water Travel Award 2024

MDPI, a publisher of peer-reviewed, open access journals, invites applications for the 2024 Water Travel Awards. Three awards of CHF 800 each will go to junior scientists to present an oral presentation and/or poster at an international conference in 2024. Applicants must be postdoctoral researchers or Ph.D. students working in the field of water or related areas. Applications have to be submitted by 31 January 2024. Click here

Nagao Natural Environment Foundation — Support for Young Scientists from Asia-Pacific

The Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) aims to build the capacity of young scientists in developing countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Young researchers (under 40 years old) can submit fieldwork based projects in the areas of biology; biodiversity; wildlife and restoration of ecosystems; and relationships between nature and humans. The maximum grant size is 1.5 million Japanese yen per project. Application deadlines are twice a year: 31 July 2023 and 31 January 2024. Find out more

World Photography Organization — Sony World Photography Awards

The Sony World Photography Awards, one of the world’s leading photography competitions, recognizes the best single images from across 10 diverse categories, including ‘Landscape’ and ‘Natural World & Wildlife’.
