Global Landscapes Forum — African Youth Storytelling Contest

The Global Landscapes Forum hosts a storytelling contest for young Africans. The story should revolve around the key themes of a thriving Africa, including but not limited to food sovereignty, biodiverse landscapes, ecosystem restoration, and climate justice, among others. The three best stories will receive prizes of €500, €300 and €200 respectively. The contest is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 born and/or currently living in Africa. West Africa Civil Society Institute — Research Fellowship

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) serves as a resource hub for training, research and documentation, experience sharing, and policy dialogue for organized civil society in West Africa. The research fellowship is open to all young researchers from West Africa. Other young researchers who are not from the region but are interested in understanding and documenting civil society praxis in West Africa can be considered. Fellows will work with experienced professionals to explore key issues, trends, and challenges affecting the civil society ecosystem. Fellows will receive monthly stipends and a research allowance from the Institute. Applications should be submitted on or before 31 May 2024. WACSI Research Fellowship

Global Citizens — Waislitz Global Citizen Award 2024

The Waislitz Global Citizen Award is an annual cash prize recognizing the excellence of one individual in their work to end extreme poverty. The grand prize winner receives US$100 thousand. Global Citizens makes three additional awards of $75 thousand each. Past winners include zero waste, environmental protection, and sanitation projects. The deadline for submissions is 03 June 2024. Nagao Natural Environment Foundation — Support for Young Scientists from Asia-Pacific

The Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) aims to build the capacity of young scientists in developing countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Young researchers (under 40 years old) can submit fieldwork-based projects in the areas of biology; biodiversity; wildlife and restoration of ecosystems; and relationships between nature and humans. The maximum grant size is 1.5 million Japanese yen per project. Application deadlines are twice a year: 31 July 2024 and 31 January 2025. Find out more

Nagao Natural Environment Foundation — Nature Conservation Scholarships for Students from Asia

The NEF Scholarship Scheme financially supports university students from Southeast Asia who study nature conservation (e.g., biology, botany, forestry, etc) at selected universities and institutes in Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and the Philippines. Furthermore, scholarship recipients can attend the NEF Student International Workshop. Participants attend lectures, present their own research, visit research facilities, and practice research skills in the field related to nature conservation. Eligibility requirements vary by country, therefore, interested applicants are required to contact the NEF local counterpart representative in their country for application guidelines. German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy — Women in Renewable Energy

The mentoring program “Energising Women to Advance the Energy Transition” aims to address the gender gap in the renewables sector. The program offers mentoring, online courses, networking, and peer-to-peer exchange. The deadline for applications is 24 May 2024. Women in Energy

The Bridge International — Funding for Social Entrepreneurs

The Bridge International is a non-profit organization that works as an online crowdfunding platform for social entrepreneurs in Asia and Africa. Bridge International aims to support local entrepreneurs to be self-reliant and financially sustainable in their operations while they create social impact within the community. Applications for the recruiting program Global Bridging Fund (GBF) are open. Selected partners will benefit from seed funds up to US$5,000 as a 0% interest loan, connections to other social enterprises, and potential partnerships with global institutions and corporations. Pacific Community — Photo Contest

The Pacific Community (SPC) launches a photo contest. Submissions must illustrate climate change, marine environments, fisheries, and/or aquaculture in the Pacific Islands region. SPC invites residents of the Pacific Islands region to submit entries. The first prize is US$1,000 worth of photography equipment. Submissions are due on 31 May 2024. Know more

Aspen Global Innovators Group — West Africa Fellowship

The Impact West Africa Fellowship Program aims to elevate the voices of leaders with proximate and lived expertise by providing a fellowship experience that centers the expertise of West African leaders. Fellows have a proven passion for advocacy and solid track records in improving lives and influencing meaningful change in the region. Each Impact Fellow will participate in an intensive 12-month journey to help them advance their individual advocacy goals. The application deadline is 14 June 2024. ETH Zurich — Consolidation Grants

ETH Consolidation Grants provide grants up to CHF50 thousand to strengthen existing research collaborations. Consolidation Grants aim to encourage more advanced, solid projects between Switzerland and East Asia or the Southeast Asia region.
