American Ornithological Society — Student and Postdoctoral Research

The American Ornithological Society (AOS) makes student grants of up to $4,000 to support research in various areas of avian biology by undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs. AOS encourages undergraduate students from any region to apply. Applicants must be members of AOS. Latin American students are particularly encouraged to apply for the Alexander Wetmore Memorial Research Award for research in avian systematics, paleo-ornithology, biogeography, and especially neotropical biology. United Nations — Indigenous Fellowship Program

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Indigenous Fellowship Training Programme is open for applications. The aim of the program is to give Indigenous persons the opportunity to gain knowledge on the UN system and mechanisms dealing with human rights issues in general and Indigenous issues in particular. (Note: This may include land rights and biodiversity conservation issues). Participants will learn how to more effectively advocate for the rights of their communities and raise their concerns at the international level. European Commission — Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships

The European Commission, through the Euraxess initiative, offers the Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships to support researchers from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. ZUKOnnect aims to extend research networks and environments through on-campus research stays at thirteen departments of the University of Konstanz. Subject areas include ecology, limnology, ecotoxicology, botany, amongst many others. The fellowship offers a stipend of €1,300/month for doctoral students and €2,000/month for postdoctoral researchers, as well as travel expenses and access to resources and events. Aga Khan Foundation — International Scholarships

The Aga Khan Foundation supports programs in rural development, broadly defined, in several developing countries. It provides scholarships and loans for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from the developing world, with priority for master’s studies. The Foundation also considers applications for PhD programs in certain circumstances. Applications are invited from the following nationalities: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Kenya, Kyrgyz Republic, Madagascar, Mozambique, Pakistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and Uganda. The Foundation assists students with tuition fees and living expenses only. Please note that half of the scholarship amount is considered as a loan, which must be reimbursed. The application deadline is 01 February 2026, but earlier in some countries (please check the dates carefully). About the Fellowships

Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association — PhD scholarships 2026

The BRIDGES Research Program offers fully funded PhD scholarships for three-year doctoral projects focused on marine social-ecological systems in the southwestern Indian Ocean. Each selected PhD receives a research budget of €20 thousand. Candidates may propose multidisciplinary research, including data-collection and monitoring, social-ecological modeling, vulnerability assessment, governance and transformation of marine/coastal systems. Global Water Intelligence — Global Water Awards 2026

Nominations are open for the annual Global Water Awards 2026. Global Water Intelligence seeks technologies, plants, projects, and companies that make significant contributions to the development of the water sector. Focus areas include water or wastewater treatment, water conservation and management, ecologically sustainable industry technologies, and commercial solutions, among others. Earth Journalism Network — Virtual Media Workshop: Strengthen Reporting on Environmental Threats and Solutions in the Western Balkans

Earth Journalism Network (EJN) hosts a two-day virtual media workshop (January 2026) for journalists in the Western Balkans interested in reporting on environmental threats and solutions. Applicants can be from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo. EJN will award 10-12 grants to journalists to support in-depth reporting on the different threats to biodiversity and innovative and scalable solutions to protect and conserve ecosystems. Accountability Lab East and Southern Africa — Climate Justice Incubator

Accountability Lab East and Southern Africa (ALESA) launches a 12-month Climate Justice Incubator (CJI). The CJI is for young civic leaders aged 18–30 from Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe, focusing on climate-justice innovation, community resilience, storytelling/advocacy, policy change or intersectional climate action. Applicants receive mentorship, training and hands-on support to develop their ideas into impact projects and join a network of “Climatepreneurs”. The deadline is 28 November 2025. Details here

Neotropical Grassland Conservancy — Student Grant Program

The Neotropical Grassland Conservancy (NGC) supports Latin American students studying at universities in the U.S. or South America. It funds basic research expenses like transport, lodging, meals and field supplies. Selected students receive a one-time payment of US$1,500. The program also offers the Christopher Miller Outstanding Student Award, providing US$500 annually to one exceptional awardee. The next application deadline is 01 December 2025. Commonwealth Scholarship Commission — Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2026

With funding from the UK’s Department for International Development, the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are available to citizens of Commonwealth countries for master’s studies at UK universities, usually for one year. The participating academic programs include several subject areas such as environmental science and management, agroforestry, livestock management, remote sensing, disaster management, wetlands science, etc. The CSC lists the participating universities and their eligible courses. Potential applicants must check with the relevant UK university regarding their admission requirements and guidelines for applying. The deadline for scholarship applications is 09 December 2025.
