Young Water Solutions — Young Water Fellowship Program: Senegal

Young Water Solutions supports young entrepreneurs to launch their water and sanitation related social businesses. The Young Water Fellowship provides training, seed-funding and mentorship. The bootcamp aims to empower its participants to implement projects addressing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), water pollution, and water scarcity. After the bootcamps Fellows can apply for a funding of up to €5 thousand to pilot their business models over 6 months. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 to 30 years old, be fluent in French, intend to stay in Senegal for at least 1.5 years after the training and spend at least 15 hours per week to work on their social business. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations — Photo Contest on Salt-Affected Soils

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) launches a Photo Contest on Salt-Affected Soils. Its purpose is to offer participants the opportunity to share their testimonies on the effects of soil salinity and sodification while raising awareness about the dangers posed by these soil threats. Each participant can submit up to five entries. Entrants must own the copyright and must have taken the photographs themselves. The first three prizes will respectively win a cash prize of US$500, US$300 and US$200. Additional prizes will be awarded to the first 10 shortlisted finalists. Submission closes 30 September 2021. Aspen Institute — New Voices Fellowship 2022

The New Voices Fellowship is a year-long program that provides intensive media and advocacy training for top development professionals in the developing world. The Aspen Institute aims to select 15-20 Fellows who will write opinion articles, participate in interviews with local and international media, and speak at international conferences. Subject areas of interest include food security, climate change, and other themes. For the 2022 class, Aspen will give special consideration to Fellows whose work focuses on COVID-19 relief, vaccine development, and pandemic resiliency. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Award — Islamic Green City Excellence Award

The Islamic Green City Excellence Award is dedicated to outstanding works carried out by individuals and public as well as private institutions and organizations operating in the various fields of the environment and sustainable development. The selection of the candidate city for the Award is assessed on the basis of specific criteria, including Sustainable Energy Use, Water and Wastewater Management, Urban Forestry, Biodiversity Preservation, and Climate Change Mitigation, among others. Eligibility extends to everyone involved in environmental management and sustainable development (individuals, groups, institutions, organizations, companies, associations etc., be they public, private or non-governmental) from the Islamic countries. Africa Solar Industry Association — Solar Awards

The AFSIA Solar Awards celebrate exceptional talent in the African solar market. AFSIA seeks solar applications, for example, large-scale solar park or solar home systems, grid-connected and off-grid systems, and solar-powered applications such as street lighting, solar irrigation, refrigeration or cook stoves. International Water Association — IWA Development Award

The International Water Association (IWA) Professional Development Award recognizes excellence, leadership and innovation in the water sector, and aims to encourage the continued contribution to the sustainable management of water in low- and middle-income countries. The award is open to an individual, or representative of an organization active in the water sector. The right to submit a nomination for the award is granted to Members of the International Water Association and previous awardees. The call for nominations closes 01 October 2021. World Academy of Sciences — Online Training: Biotechnology Policy and Biosafety Regulations

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) offers eLearning opportunities in technical elements of Biotechnology Policy to regulators, governmental risk assessors, and relevant technical experts in least developed countries. The International Water Association (IWA) invites outline papers, workshop or training proposals under the theme ‘Water for smart liveable cities’ for the 2022 World Water Congress & Exhibition. CMCC Foundation — Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship 2022

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship seeks proposals from researchers with experience in the fields of social sciences and humanities but with interest in interfacing with earth system science. The aim is to overcome the disciplinary boundaries between earth science, and in particular climate science, and social/human sciences. European Fellowships support experienced researchers for a full time period between 12 and 24 months.
