The American Museum of Natural History sponsors a number of research grants and student exchange fellowships. The Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Grants support early-career researchers for research in any phase of wildlife conservation or related fields of North American fauna, defined as fauna north of the Isthmus of Panama, including the Caribbean. Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop on Wildlife and Conservation Reporting in East Africa
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites journalists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda to apply for a five-day wildlife and conservation workshop in Uganda. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of conservation efforts in the region and learn how researchers, Indigenous groups, and local communities are protecting their ecosystems. Journalists interested in covering human-wildlife conflicts, poaching, trafficking and other wildlife crimes are invited to apply. The Mexico Standard Program promotes the protection and restoration of wetland ecosystems and other habitats for wetlands-associated migratory birds and other fish and wildlife. Grants under this call generally range from US$50 thousand to US$700 thousand. Eligibility extends to individuals, corporations, government agencies, universities, and international organizations. Eleven Eleven Twelve Foundation announces the Africa Green Grant Award. The Award gives grants to African entrepreneurs in the environmental and agricultural sectors. The financial support scheme is open to Africans, both individuals and institutions/organizations, whose project impacts local communities and solves environmental problems. Society of Wetland Scientists — Student Research Grants
The Society of Wetland Scientists (SWS) offers partial funding of wetland-related research conducted by undergraduate and graduate students worldwide. A total of up to US$1 thousand can be requested to aid student’s costs of travel, room and board in the course of field investigation and to help cover costs of expendable materials and supplies required in the execution of the proposed research. The applicant must currently be enrolled in a Ms or PhD program related to wetland science (e.g. biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, etc.) and be a member of SWS. Society of American Foresters — Scholarship SAF National Convention
The Gregory Award gives students or early-career professionals from developing countries the opportunity to attend the annual Society of American Foresters (SAF) National Convention. The award offers one individual complimentary registration and US$3 thousand to cover travel costs. United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization — Youth Multimedia Competition
UNESCO invites youth around the world to take part in a Multimedia Competition in response to an acute world problem. The 2022 competition revolves around a question on “the Sustainable Development Goals and how local communities deal with them”. Participants are required to produce a 3-minute video, multimedia presentation, 500-700 written essay, or art work. The competition is divided by age groups: Juniors (ages 10-14); Youth (ages 15-19); and Young Adult (ages 20-24). The three finalists from each group will receive a certificate and an invitation to UNESCO’s Builders of the Universe Camp held at Hood College in Frederick (USA), including a scholarship for the fee for the camp, food, accommodations, and transport. Land Accelerator — Restoration of Degraded Forests and Farmland (South Asia)
The Land Accelerator trains and supports entrepreneurs that restore degraded forests and farmland. The program offers an all-virtual business creation and growth accelerator in South Asia. The accelerator is designed for companies that are in the testing phase of taking their product to market. Any business model that is recognized as restoring land is eligible, including, but not limited to smart agriculture, water conservation, agroforestry, tree planting, and beekeeping, forest conservation. Latvian State Education Development Agency — Scholarships 2022/2023
The Latvian State Education Development Agency offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers and teaching staff for studies, research and participation in summer schools in Latvian higher education institutions (HEIs) for the academic year 2022/2023. Study programs include Agriculture, Environmental Science, Forestry, Energy, among others. The scholarship amount varies from €500 to €670 per month, depending on the program. United Nations — World Oceans Day Photo Competition 2022
The World Oceans Day aims to raise global awareness of the current challenges faced by the oceans and showcase possible solutions. The United Nations General Assembly seeks submissions to the World Oceans Day Photo Competition to share the beauty and importance of the oceans through photographs. The photo competition has seven thematic categories open for photographic submissions from all around the world.
