The Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development supports efforts aiming at the promotion and enhancement of human development concepts. The objective is to highlight the innovative experiences and continuously support the distinguished efforts in various fields of development (including, but not limited to, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Climate Action, and Zero Hunger). Prizes range from US$100 thousand to US$400 thousand. Projects implemented by UN agencies, international or regional NGOs, governmental bodies, social business enterprises, and individuals are eligible. U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Conservation of Sea Turtles 2024
The U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) requests proposals that seek to improve the recovery and conservation of sea turtle populations. The majority of projects will take place in the Western Hemisphere: leatherbacks and loggerheads in the Northwest Atlantic, and leatherbacks and hawksbills in the Eastern Pacific. In 2024, the NFWF Sea Turtles Program will also award support to permitted U.S. organizations in providing sea turtle stranding response and/or rehabilitation in the United States and U.S. Territories. The RFP will award up to US$1 million, however, the majority of awards will fall in the range of US$50 thousand to US$250 thousand. A minimum of a 1:1 match of cash and/or in-kind services is required. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, government agencies, Indian tribes, educational institutions, businesses, and individuals. The deadline for pre-proposals is 07 September 2023. United States Agency for International Development — Oceans Plastics
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the “Oceans Plastics – Solid Waste Management Activity.” The activity’s goal is to reduce waste in municipalities leading to cleaner oceans in the Dominican Republic. Fund for Innovation in Development — Grant Program
The Fund for Innovation in Development (FID) supports innovation that contributes to reducing global poverty and inequality. FID encourages applications for solutions in education, health, climate change, and gender equality in all low- and middle-income countries. Nearly any type of applicant is eligible to apply, including researchers, governments, NGOs and for-profit companies. FID makes five types of grants: Prepare Grants (up to €50 thousand) can be used to support the development of projects and proposals; Pilot Grants (up to €200 thousand) support the piloting of innovations that are early in development and need real-world testing; Scale Grants (up to €1,5 million) support the further testing and continued growth of innovations; Transition to Scale Grants (up to €4 million) support the transition of rigorously tested and validated solutions to widespread scaling; and Transforming Public Policy Grants (up to €150 thousand) support specific evidence-based innovations with demonstrated cost-effectiveness and scalability into public policies. United Nations Development Programme — Scaling up Climate Ambition on Land Use and Agriculture
The SCALA Private Sector Engagement Facility seeks to identify private sector-oriented interventions to engage businesses in implementing climate plans to mobilize resources and develop innovative climate services solutions. The call for interest to receive support from the SCALA PSE Facility is open to Small Island Developing States and middle-income countries. U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Seabird Conservation Program 2023
The U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) invites applications to improve populations of focal Pacific seabirds through actions that increase survival and reproduction. Proposed projects may address the management of non-native, invasive animals; restoration of nesting grounds and habitat; research and monitoring activities to address conservation needs; or activities that reduce bycatch. Fondation Franklinia — Conservation of Globally Threatened Trees
The Foundation Franklinia accepts project proposals focused on in-situ conservation of threatened trees in Southeast Asia. Eligibility extends to any organization with well established expertise and efficiency in plant conservation. Projects must aim at improving the conservation status of globally threatened tree species listed on the IUCN Red List of threatened species. Funding from the Foundation favors conservation projects with reasonable budgets in relation to proposed activities. A minimum of 20-50% of co-funding will be required. Nippon Foundation — Ocean Fellowship
The United Nations – Nippon Foundation Fellowship provides government officials and other mid-level professionals from developing states with advanced training on ocean affairs and the law of the sea. The 9-month fellowship program is composed of two consecutive phases which provide fellows with advanced and customized research and training opportunities. Fellows will receive a stipend each month during their fellowship. The stipend is intended to cover the cost of lodging, boarding and other essentials such as local transport. In addition to the stipend, fellows will be provided with a book allowance of US$100 per month. Candidates must be between the ages of 25 and 40. Dubai Municipality — Dubai International Award for Best Practices
The Dubai Municipality, in collaboration with UN Habitat, offers Best Practices Awards for outstanding contributions that demonstrate valuable contributions to sustainable urban development. The five award categories include one on urban food systems, and one on addressing climate change and reducing pollution. The competition is open to governments, nonprofits, companies, universities and individuals. Total award prizes sum up to US$1 million. New Zealand Aid Program — Collaborate Pacific Fund
Collaborate Pacific aims to support effective governance, leadership, regional cooperation, and sustainable development in the Pacific. The fund supports small-scale activities in thematic priority areas: Agriculture, Climate Change, Oceans and Fisheries, Renewable Energy, and many other development priorities. Funding can cover travel (including transport, accommodation, and meals) and event costs (including hosting costs).
