U.S. Department of State — Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowships 2025-2026

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program supports non-degree academic study and related professional experiences in the U.S. for experienced professionals from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Fellows are hosted at universities in the USA. Program fields include agriculture and rural development; natural resources, environmental policy, climate change; and many others. World Academy of Sciences — TWAS-LUMS Postgraduate Fellowship

The Lahore University of Management Sciences and TWAS offer fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to pursue research towards a PhD in Natural Sciences and Engineering. The Fellowship may be granted for a maximum period of five years. LUMS will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs, such as food, accommodation, and local transportation. Applicants should be a maximum age of 35 years and hold a Master’s degree in a field of natural sciences. The deadline for receipt of applications is 11 October 2024. TWAS-LUMS

Climate Tracker — Caribbean Climate Justice Journalism Fellowship

Climate Tracker selects fellows for a 5 months training experience with a range of environmental, storytelling, and journalism experts. Participants will get the chance to put what they’ve learned into practice, by engaging in new media journalism, through podcasts, social media storytelling, and newsletters. Fellows receive a monthly stipend of US$200 to publish climate stories. Eligibility extends to Caribbean journalists interested in covering climate justice. The deadline to apply is 22 April 2024. Australian Government — ASEAN Scholarships

The Australian Government offers scholarships to pursue a master’s degree to leaders from ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste. ASEAN scholarships are offered for the minimum period necessary for the individual to complete the academic program specified by the Australian education institution, including any preparatory training. Pulitzer Center — Ocean Reporting Network

The Pulitzer Center accepts applications for the Ocean Reporting Network (ORN). The network will establish a collaborative ecosystem of journalists around the world to uncover the harmful and illegal practices of the fishing and extractive industries, and systemic threats to marine biodiversity and coastal communities. The Pulitzer Center will cover a reporter’s salary and provide additional support for the media outlet that employs the journalist. Government of Canada — Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program provides funding to postdoctoral applicants, both nationally and internationally, who will positively contribute to Canada’s economic, social, and research-based growth. A total of 70 fellowships are awarded annually. Foreign citizens who are not permanent residents of Canada may only apply if they hold their fellowship at a Canadian institution. Applicants seek endorsement from a host institution to apply, prepare, and submit an application (Note: institutions may have internal deadlines). Junior Professionals will work with Catholic Relief Services to end poverty and promote peace and self-reliance in West Africa. Fellows receive training and support CRS’ work in various sectors such as agriculture/livelihoods, health, water and sanitation, emergency response, or micro-financing. Climate and Development Knowledge Network — MSc. Program

The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) implements the Capacity Development for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Experts (CABES) MSc. program in “Managing Science-Policy-Practice Interface on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services” to build the capacities of youths on sustainable development pathways and biodiversity policy-making decision processes. German Academic Exchange Service — Postgraduate Courses in Germany 2025-2026

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships to qualified individuals from eligible developing countries for post-graduate studies at German universities in development-related subjects. The program (EPOS) is open to individuals who have completed their previous academic degrees no longer than six years previously; who have at least two years of professional experience; and who are nationals of countries receiving official development assistance (DAC list of the OECD). The available courses range across water resources; renewable energy; land management and tenure; agricultural sciences; forest sciences; ecology; nature conservation; environmental governance; and many others. Mongabay — Africa Environmental Reporting Fellowship

Mongabay Africa offers an Environmental Reporting Fellowship in French for journalism on the continent. The program provides opportunities for journalists from biodiversity hotspots in low- and middle-income income tropical countries to report on critical environmental issues.
