The US Embassy offers small grants for projects that strengthen ties between the United States and Slovenia. Eligible topics for projects are broadly defined and include energy security, entrepreneurship and business development (including women), youth engagement, and environmental preservation and sustainability. Projects may request funding of US$10 thousand to US$70 thousand. Only registered Slovenian NGOs (institutions of higher education and nonprofits) may apply. U.S. Agency for International Development — Energy Resilience in Jamaica
The US Agency for International Development (USAID) supports actions and activities that will strengthen the ability of Jamaica’s energy sector. USAID requests solutions that advance the development of a resilient alternative energy market. Concept notes should propose activities valued at no less than US$2 million. Service Objects — In-Kind Grants
Service Objects In-Kind Grants provide support to organizations that encourage environmental leadership through the reduction of waste or assist in the aftermath of natural disasters. Organizations working to encourage environmental leadership and conservation are welcome to apply for grants of up to $2,500. Grants are offered to organizations that have 501(c)(3) status within the United States, however, there are no geographical limitations in relation to project implementation. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Mediterranean Basin (Albania or North Macedonia)
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) and the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT) invite Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) for small grants (up to €50 thousand) for projects that support the conservation of plants or the sustainable management of water catchments in the wider Prespa area. Eligibility extends to non-governmental organizations, scientific institutions and academic institutions legally registered in Albania or North Macedonia. European Commission — Defense of Environmental Rights in Peru
The European Commission aims to strengthen environmental protection and mitigation of climate change by protecting environmental human rights and their defenders. This call focuses on (1) Promoting the transition to a low carbon economy in the Peruvian Amazon; and (2) Improving compliance with Environmental Human Rights (DHA) for better environmental governance. Projects with focus on low-carbon transition can apply for funding of between €500 thousand and €805 thousand. Projects with focus on environmental human rights can apply for funding up to €382 thousand. European Commission — Integrated Local Energy Systems
The European Commission seeks to support the economic growth of renewable energy sources as a means of decarbonising local energy systems (e.g. isolated villages, small cities, urban districts, rural areas with weak or non-existing grid connections). The objective of this call is to create a preliminary analysis of the local case as part of the content of the proposal and propose to develop solutions and tools for the optimization of the local energy network, that also have a high replication potential across Europe. Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas Network — MPA Co-Management Approaches
MedPAN launches a new call for small projects to support Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Mediterranean. This call targets co-management approaches for Marine Protected Areas. The call is only open to Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Turkey, and Albania. MedPAN’s contribution will be €20 thousand per project (matching contributions of 25 % are required). The KEEN Effect — Nature-based Education
The KEEN Effect seeks programs that bring children outside for adventurous recreation, environmental stewardship, and nature-based education. The KEEN Effect Youth program provides funding to grassroots organizations developing youth (age 18 or under) activities in the outdoors worldwide. The program grants up to US$20 thousand per project over a two-year cycle. Eligibility extends to registered non-profit organizations. Applications must be submitted by 31 January 2020. The MEPI Local Grants Program seeks proposals that support inclusive economic growth in the Western Sahara by improving local economic opportunities. Proposals should develop and implementing locally-designed solutions to environmental, economic, or social problems or promote inclusive economic growth that reaches marginalized communities. PNG-Australia Partnership — Off-Grid Electrification Program Papua New Guinea
The PNG-Australia Off-Grid Electrification Program (Pawarim Komuniti) supports access to clean energy in rural and remote communities in Papua New Guinea. The Program will support local off-grid energy solutions such as solar home systems, and others, to provide rural households, community service facilities and businesses with affordable access to clean energy. Selected organisations will receive funding in the amount of between PGK250 thousand and PGK3 million. Pawarim Komuniti will accept proposals from legally registered national or international private companies and NGOs eligible to work in Papua New Guinea.
