European Commission — Civil Society Development in Argentina
The European Commission (EC) seeks to strengthen the civil society in Argentina to improve the difficult socio-economic situation linked to the financial crisis and the consequences of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Therefore, the EC invites proposals that promote the adoption of environmentally and socially sustainable development policies. The Quick Response Biodiversity Fund (QRBF) is a rapid response mechanism set up by the Weeden Foundation and partner organizations to secure critical habitat for threatened species. Grants are primarily for land purchases of critical habitat. However, the Fund also considers proposals for land leases and other arrangements that ensure habitat protection. The National Geographic Big Cats Initiative seeks projects benefiting big cat populations and their habitats via field-based and action-oriented programs in Africa. National Geographic Society — Species Recovery
The National Geographic Society seeks proposals that “stimulate, promote and support conservation actions for halting biodiversity decline, preventing species’ extinctions, and restoring and conserving intact habitats and ecosystems, both on the ground and in the water”. In partnership with the IUCN SSC, the goal is to halt further biodiversity decline by implementing species conservation plans. Funds are not restricted by taxon or region, but proposals must include principal investigators or participants resident in the country where the fieldwork will be conducted. The National Geographic Society accepts applications from less experienced individuals who seek to lead a project. Applicants are not required to have an advanced degree and should submit their proposal at least four months before the project start date. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for funding for the development of food security activities in Ethiopia. USAID plans to award up to four cooperative agreements with the goal to improve food security of vulnerable households in targeted communities, contributing to a sustained reduction in rural poverty. U.S. Department of State — Air Quality Management in Southeast Asia
The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, U.S. State Department, announces the “Building Air Quality Management Capacity in Southeast Asia” program. The project targets government entities with the intend to strengthen regulatory and monitoring capacity of government actors and expand awareness of air quality issues in Southeast Asian countries. The program intends to provide US$296,296 in funding to be used for the production of educational materials, expert workshops, and the development of a monitoring and evaluation plan to be used by key agencies. Countries eligible for funding under this award include: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
