Wellcome Trust — Early-Career Awards

The Wellcome Trust supports bold and creative discovery research that has the potential to improve human life, health and wellbeing. The Early-Career Awards provide funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity through innovative projects. Research can be in any discipline, including STEM, experimental medicine, or climate – as long as it has the potential to improve human life. The Trust covers the researcher’s salary and up to £400 thousand for research expenses. The applicant’s host organization has to be based in the UK, Republic of Ireland, a low- or middle-income country (apart from India and mainland China). Nordic Africa Institute — African Scholar Program

The Nordic Africa Scholar Program supports researchers based in Africa who need time and a conducive environment for finishing and writing up their ongoing research. The Senior Researcher position is offered at the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) for the duration of 12 months. NAI especially welcomes research with relevance to energy, energy transition and resource politics, among others. Trust for Sustainable Living — International Schools Essay Competition

Every year, the essay competition focuses on a different global sustainability challenge. This year’s theme is Nature-based Solutions. Participating students are invited to submit one essay (in English) entitled “How can nature help us achieve the UN SDGs in my community?”. The Grand Prize trophy winner will receive a free international trip to a TSL Summit, including £1000 spending money. Schools have to register a Teacher Champion to participate in the competition. iF International Forum Design GmbH — Student Design Award

The iF Student Design Award recognizes students and their future-oriented concepts that aim to solve a global development challenge. The best concepts earn a share of €50 thousand. All winners will be honored with a two-day event in Istanbul. Students and recent graduates of all design-related courses and programs are welcome to register their concepts. One Day’s Wages — Matching Grants

One Day’s Wages is a grassroots movement to alleviate extreme global poverty. Matching grants require partners to raise a portion of the grant funds, which are then matched by One Day’s Wages dollar for dollar. Matching grant requests from first-time partners is US$5,000 – US$30 thousand. Projects must fit within one or more of ODW’s focus areas, which include Climate Impact, and Water & Sanitation, among others. Applicants must be a registered non-governmental nonprofit organization. SEED — Replicator Workshop for Eco-Enterprises

The SEED Replicator program offers incubation workshops to identify opportunities for enterprise creation and to guide aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners looking for partnerships to build an eco-inclusive business model. Successful alumni can apply for a SEED Grant which pays for your immediate necessary activities, measures or machinery required to establish the new enterprise. SEED Replicator Program currently invites applications from entrepreneurs in South Africa. Participation is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. Brazil-UK PACT — Mobilising Green Investment Program

Brazil-UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) seeks proposals to fund projects that will support the Brazilian government to enhance the reach and effectiveness of green finance in the country. The program funds capacity-building interventions that aim to increase the mobilization of green investments to mitigate climate change, while also helping to drive economic development. Funding of up to £500 thousand is available per project/year. Projects should support public financial institutions to allocate and leverage green finance resources, or support measures for national and subnational governments to mobilize different sources of capital towards green projects. Youth Climate Justice Fund — Funding for Young Climate Leaders

The Youth Climate Justice Fund seeks applications to support climate justice young leaders with trust-based funding, resources, and youth-to-youth capacity development. Groups can apply for a grant of up to US$10 thousand, which can be used for a period of 12 months. Applying networks or collectives have to be led by young people aged 35 and under and be based in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, or Central and Eastern Europe. EIT Climate-KIC — Capacity Building Program for Climate Entrepreneurs

EIT Climate-KIC, IDB Lab, and the Clean Technology Fund seek to advance climate innovation in Latin American and the Caribbean. Up to 25 organizations will receive tailored capacity building and knowledge transfer in specific areas around supporting climate innovations. Eligibility extends to innovation agencies, incubators, accelerators, ecosystem builders, venture capital investors, co-working spaces, and hubs that wish to initiate or deepen their involvement in fighting climate change by supporting start-ups focused on mitigating carbon emissions. Eligible countries are Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, and Peru. The application deadline is 30 September 2023. Columbia Climate School — Postdoctoral Research Program

The Columbia Climate School invites applications for the Postdoctoral Research Program.Climate School Postdocs will receive an annual salary of US$71,640. They are also awarded a research stipend of US$12 thousand over the two-year term for reimbursable expenses related to the appointment. The program is open to U.S. and non-U.S. citizens.
