Climate Tracker — Writing Competition on Climate Change

Climate Tracker seeks young writers from around the world who want to make a big impact in their countries by writing about the effects of meat consumption on climate change. The 2 best writers will get a chance to attend the Convention on Biological Diversity negotiations in Egypt (November 2018). Participants have to write an article about effects of meat consumption on climate change and what needs to change in their country and publish the article in the media, e.g. newspaper, magazine, online news site, etc. To participate, articles have to be submitted by 12 October 2018. United Nations Development Programme — Ecosystem Challenge for young African Entrepreneurs

The purpose of the ecosystem challenge is to seed youth entrepreneurship focused activities through provision of catalytic grant capital of US$10 thousand. Proposed projects should provide an innovative solution to development challenges facing the youth in Africa. Thematic areas may include one or multiple categories of the Terra Viva Grants Directory. Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Africa — Small Grants for Organizations in Africa

PAN is an advisor to the Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) for grants to civil society in subjects of environment and sustainable development. PAN Africa invites African organizations to submit short proposals that may qualify for GGF support. Areas important to PAN include projects on the themes of Water Resources; Climate Changes; Sustainable Agriculture; and the Protection of Forests. Proposals should include project objectives, methodology, expected results, and an activities budget. The requested contribution should not exceed US$3,500. Proposals must be sent to PAN by e-mail no later than 15 October 2018. Here

Youth for Water and Climate — Support for Youth-led Projects

The Youth for Water and Climate #YWC Platform calls for youth-led projects related to water management and climate change adaptation. Selected projects will receive financial support of up to €3,500 and be featured on the YWC platform. Eligibility extends to young project leaders between 18 and 35 years. Project leaders from low and middle income countries or targeting indigenous communities will be prioritized. The deadline to submit proposals is 16 October 2018. Support from #YWC

France Libertés – Danielle Mitterrand Foundation — Water and Climate

France Libertés – Danielle Mitterrand Foundation launches a call for proposals about the positive impact people can have on the link between the cycle of water and climate. The Foundation will support projects which work to return water to the earth to restore the climate, in order to guarantee water access and to encourage its sustainable management. For this purpose, grants of between € 8 thousand and €12 thousand can be requested. Any non-profit organisation (including local communities, universities, research institutes, and trade unions) is welcome to apply. Applications have to be submitted by 26 October 2018. Strategic Support Program for Scientific Research — Call for Research Projects in Agriculture and Health

The Strategic Support Program for Scientific Research (PASRES) of Côte d’Ivoire and the Uganda Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) launch a call for joint research projects in the fields of Agriculture and Health. Proposals for scientific research should focus on agriculture and plant health (crop diseases, livestock and fisheries) or Environment and Human Health (resilience of populations to the effects of climate change). Projects will receive US$50 thousand in funding for one year. To be eligible, research partnerships must involve researchers from both countries (one from Côte d’Ivoire and the other from Uganda). École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne — Seed Money for Projects 2019

EPFL’s seed money grants are allocated to promote the creation and launch of new projects of scientific cooperation with partners from emerging and developing countries. The problems addressed in the proposal must be related to development issues and to the main challenges faced by the respective emerging and developing country. Project categories may include one or more areas of interest relevant to the Terra Viva Grants Directory. The maximum funding per project is CHF 20 thousand per year. Australia Department of Education and Training — Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships 2019

The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are Australia’s program for citizens of the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe, and the Americas for education, research, and professional development in Australia. Applicants for the Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are required to make their own approaches to host universities in Australia. Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa — Africa Scholarship 2018

The Gbowee Peace Foundation awards scholarships for postgraduate masters at the University of Dundee (Scotland). Subjects areas include environmental science, energy petroleum and mineral law and policy, and others. The Africa Scholarships are open to female students who are currently Liberian, Nigerian or Ghanaian nationals permanently resident in these countries. The student micro-project program offers students in the Wallonia region of Belgium the opportunity to set up a project in partnership with students from a developing country. Topic areas may include water resources, female empowerment, and several others. The ARES program offers financial support of up to € 15 thousand per micro-project.
