TotalEnergies — Support for Young African Entrepreneurs

The Startupper Challenge by TotalEnergies supports young African entrepreneurs to innovate and bring their projects to reality in their country of application. Winners will receive financial support to develop their startup or business idea. Business owners of startups under 3 years old with a positive impact on their communities or the planet can participate. The challenge is open to young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35. USAID — Afghanistan Integrated Youth Activity

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the Afghanistan Integrated Youth Activity (AIYA) program. AIYA aims to empower Afghan youth, particularly girls and young women, with market-relevant technical and soft skills to enhance income, food security, and economic resilience. USAID intends to provide US$62 million in total USAID funding over five years. Eligibility for this notice of funding opportunity is not restricted. The application deadline is 12 July 2024. Hello Tomorrow — Global Startup Challenge

The Hello Tomorrow Global Challenge seeks startups from all around the world that use advanced technology to answer societal or industrial challenges. The challenge includes one category for startups that focus on energy, food, agriculture & environment, among 10 others. LowCarbon.Earth — Climate Tech

The LowCarbon.Eart accelerator program supports startups that are building sustainable goods and services to solve climate change, nature loss, and pollution. Participants receive mentorship from experts and get the opportunity to raise capital from investors. The program is open to startups based in the Asia-Pacific region. EnDev — Solar Products and Cookstoves

The Demand-Side Subsidies Results-based Financing Program aims to provide access to quality off-grid solar products and improved cookstove products by bridging the affordability gap for people in ultra-poor, vulnerable settings who would otherwise not be reached. The program targets poor populations in Malawi. Customers will be eligible to purchase one solar and cookstove product per household with the help of subsidies. Participating suppliers can be private firms, registered associations, and cooperatives. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until 30 September 2024. Know more

African Food Changemakers — Building Resilience Against Climate and Environmental Shocks

Building Resilience Against Climate and Environmental Shocks (BRACE) is a capacity development program supporting agripreneurs to be aware of how their businesses are affected by climate change and to enable them to develop strategies to adapt and mitigate the impact of climate change through climate-smart practices adoption. Agribusinesses operating in Africa and in any part of the agribusiness sector’s value chain are eligible to apply. The application deadline is 09 June 2024. Link to BRACE

EnDev — Solar Energy Niger

The objective is to transform the off-grid solar market to ensure the popularization and marketing of quality solar products that are economically and technically viable across Niger.  Companies can express their interest in benefiting from individual support. Private firms, NGOs, or cooperatives following commercial business models can apply for the program. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until 14 June 2024. Know more

United Nations World Food Programme — Food Systems Challenge: Rwanda

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) seeks solutions in Rwanda that address food insecurity through strengthening food systems. The IGNITE Food Systems Challenge supports the scaling of innovative start-ups, small businesses, and cooperatives with commercially viable solutions to address gaps in the food system. MacArthur Foundation — $100 Million to Solve a Critical Problem

The MacArthur Foundation accepts applications for the 100&Change Competition to fund a proposal that promises real and measurable progress in solving a critical problem of the time. Applicants must strive toward transformative change in areas of profound concern, including the existential threats of climate change. The MacArthur Foundation will provide US$ 100 million in funding to a single proposal. The challenge is open to organizations and collaborations working in any field, anywhere in the world. Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia — Restoration Programs in Africa and Asia

Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia (REDAA) invites proposals for locally-led research-to-action restoration programs in Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Nine Program Grants of between £1 million and £1.5 million will be offered to the best proposals. Grants will fund programs of four years. Organizations eligible for funding include non-profit organizations and private sector organizations. The application for concept notes closes on 30 June 2024. Link to REDAA
