The annual St Andrews Prize for the Environment recognizes significant contributions to environmental conservation in the developing world. The subject areas include human-animal conflicts; water and biodiversity; sanitation; air quality; solar power; food supply; waste and recycling; environmental justice; and others. Applications are invited from individuals, multi-disciplinary teams, and community groups. Research projects will not be considered. The Prize consists of an award of US$100 thousand and a medal. Global Water Partnership-Caribbean — Seed Funding for Young Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean invites young Caribbean entrepreneurs (18-34 years) to submit innovative water-related project ideas to the Young Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs Shark Tank Competition. Project ideas should focus on water resources management in the Caribbean region and focus on one of five thematic areas: (1) Water and Climate; (2) Water and Agriculture; (3) Water and Health; (4) Water and Energy; (5) Water and Tourism. GreenLens — Photo Competition
GreenLens seeks ASEAN youths to submit original photos accompanied by narratives addressing environmental challenges. The project aims to enhance social-environmental awareness among ASEAN youths. Participants are invited to submit original photos along with narratives addressing environmental challenges with a specific focus on the theme of Climate Change. Winners receive up to US$250. The photo competition is open to individuals from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Timor-Leste. American Society of Primatologists — Conservation Grants 2024
The American Society of Primatologists (ASP) supports students and young researchers from habitat countries who are engaged in primate conservation. Grant proposals are invited for either captive or wild primate-oriented research projects. Applications for start-up funds, supplementary funding for students, and innovations in animal care and research technology are welcome. Award amounts range from US$500 to US$1500. Swiss Forum for International Agricultural Research — SFIAR Award 2024
SFIAR annually awards a prize to scientists working at or in association with a Swiss institution in agricultural research for development. For 2024, the best team project will be awarded CHF10 thousand, and the best masters thesis CHF1 thousand. The Young Champions of the Earth honors young people from around the world with outstanding ideas to protect and restore the environment. UNEP seeks ideas and solutions that showcase nature’s potential in addressing the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste. The winner receives US$20 thousand in seed funding. Eligibility extends to young environmentalists with at least 6 months of experience in protecting or restoring the environment. Goethe-Institut Bangkok — Science Film Festival
The Goethe-Institut Bangkok invites submissions to its annual Science Film Festival. The Film Festival is open to all formats as well as all genres of films on science, technology, and the environment. The festival makes six awards with a cash prize of €1,000 each. The Science Film Festival is open to worldwide submissions from broadcasters, producers, filmmakers, film students, researchers, scientific organizations, NGOs, public organizations, and online channels. African Impact Initiative — Business Challenge
The African Impact Challenge supports early-stage African entrepreneurs. In 2024, the challenge focuses on Botswana. Top-performing teams will receive up to US$25 thousand in either grant funding or a simple agreement for future equity investment. Projects and business ideas can focus on any sector as long as they are impact-focused entrepreneurship as a means of livelihood. The idea should address an identified problem/challenge and provide a comprehensive solution using a technology component. Registration for the 2024 challenge closes on 15 April 2024. Blue Marine Foundation — Ocean Awards
The Ocean Awards recognize individuals, community groups, organizations, and businesses that have made significant contributions to the health of the marine environment, to the sustainable management of marine resources, or to public engagement with the oceans and seas. Winners will receive media coverage and have a professional film about their achievements. Initiatives from all around the world can be nominated for the award. Collaborative Partnership on Forests — Forest Champion Award
The Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) gives the Wangari Maathai Award to one extraordinary individual for having improved their forests and the lives of people who depend on them. Eligible projects include conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of forests and raising awareness in support of local communities, rural livelihoods, and the environment.
