The Global Research Council (GRC) aims to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs through collaborative research initiatives. Projects will be funded through international consortia consisting of eligible partner organizations from at least three different countries. Consortia must be based in the following countries: Chile, China, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Norway, South Africa, Switzerland, Sweden, Tanzania, The Netherlands and Turkey. Small Initiatives Program — Nature Conservation in Africa
The Small Initiatives Program (PPI) launches a call for project proposals for emerging African Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working around major issues of nature conservation and/or the fight against climate change. The eligible themes are the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change through nature-based solutions. The maximum contribution is €35 thousand. Climate Investment Funds — Nature-based Solutions
The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) finances Nature-based solutions that recognize the interdependence between land use, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and improve the sources of livelihoods of rural communities and Indigenous Peoples. CIF launches the selection process for identifying countries that will receive funding under the Nature, People and Climate Investment program. The Program will allow potential allocation per investment plan of up to approximately US$50 million. Countries that are eligible for Official Development Assistance can apply. Earth Journalism Network — Stop Spillover Story Grants
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers story grants to journalists from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Vietnam to report on viral zoonotic diseases and efforts to prevent their spillover from animals to humans. EJN aims to support the production of stories that raise awareness about viral zoonotic diseases and drive conversation among communities and policy makers. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio). Freelance reporters and staff reporters from international, national, local or community-based outlets are eligible. European Commission — Promoting Green Growth in Nepal
The European Commission (EC) seeks to support civil society organizations’ ability to engage as actors promoting green growth and good governance. EC will fund projects that promote a just transition to a climate-neutral, resource-efficient and circular economy, and prevent biodiversity loss through the protection, restoration and promotion of sustainable use of ecosystems. Applicants can request up to €1.4 million in funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations legally established in Nepal or Member States of the European Union. Embassy of France in New Zealand — Pacific Fund 2022
The Embassy of France in New Zealand seeks projects that contribute to economic, social, cultural and scientific cooperation with New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Wallis and Futuna. Projects must fall under at least one of the following categories: fight against climate change and risk management for natural disasters; economic and industrial projects (feasibility study, training actions, etc.); food security (e.g., fishery management, etc.). Projects must be jointly financed for at least 50% of the total project budget. Projects have to be submitted by a New Zealand partner and must involve at least one local project partner. U.S. Department of State — Air Quality Management in Africa
The U.S. Department of State announces the “Air Quality Management Community of Practice in Africa” program. The program seeks to build a regional community of practice to convene air quality experts to create knowledge and develop best practices to improve air quality monitoring and expand awareness. The total funding is US$440 thousand for a period of performance of up to 36 months. European Commission — Green Economy in Jordan
The European Commission (EC) seeks to contribute to the development of a green, environmentally sustainable economy in Jordan. The EC will fund projects that focus on enhanced coordination and sustainable resource management in the energy, water and agriculture sectors. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between €1 million and €1.25 million. Hague Academy for Local Governance — Course on “Multilevel Water Governance”
The Hague Academy for Local Governance invites applications for a practice-oriented blended course on water governance. Participants will receive training and visit several Dutch examples of water projects in order to use this knowledge to develop practical solutions for the challenges they face in their home country. Participants are predominantly funded by their own employer but the program is eligible for Nuffic scholarships, which have a separate application process and deadlines (please check carefully).
